I recently had a few days off from work so I got out.
On the 21st, a buddy and I went to a river that is stocked with trout. I decided to stick with a F-5 G. I caught 2 small largemouths, a redbreast, and many brook trout with a chubby 15" brown. Later we hopped on his canoe to a pond that is stocked with trout and is a good crappie and yellow perch pond this time of year. While we were seeing breaks on the surface I trolled with that F-5 G. I caught 3 rainbows with 1 being a chubby, colorful 14"er. My buddy had a copper Phoebe and caught 3 brookies. Later we hit a spot at that pond that's good for bass. I caught a 9" largemouth and lost a nice one when it jumped. My buddy lost one and caught one with a Senko. Once it was starting to be the right time of day for crappie to hit, we started trolling in a certain area where we've had luck. I trolled with a JSR-4 SD and my buddy trolled with a JSR-4 SSD. I had 1 hit but that was it. Finally for the last hour and a half we decided to start tossing lures and bait in a area that looked nice. I stuck with the F-5 G and my buddy used 1 rod for live minnows and another for a F-5 SH. I was killing the crappie with the F-5 with sizes up to 12". My buddy was catching many too. At the end we resulted in over 30 crappie together.
Twice I hit one of my local ponds hoping for crappie action in the evening. At the area I was fishing, one day I caught close to 10 rock bass and a chubby 8" pumpkinseed all by twitching the F-5 G on the surface. Another day at that same spot I caught 3 small crappie, 2 bluegills, and 5 rock bass.
