Saturday I got this pickerel and I dont know if I was holding him too tight or what, but the bastard just pretty much pooped all over the boat - and on my shirt. But damn man, that was some rancid matter that came out of that fish. I mean it was just awful never knew fish poop smelled that bad....eesh

there was a snippet in last months in-fisherman about pike and their poop. it seems that pike with poop away from there feeding grounds because of the distress hormone released by there prey is not only present in the chased fish, but also still present in their poop. so maybe thats just a bad sign for your canoe, now the fish will think your canoe is telling them to hide from the hormones left be the pickerel poop. LOL cant say i buy into that a whole lot, you would think that the slime from pike would deter other fish from biting, but the first thing i do when catching a pike with a new lure is to rub the lure on the pike to get it all slimed up, and it always seems to catch more fish after that.

pickerel will do that when stressed, and note that they are spawning. so they might be easy to get stressed now.
