Howdy, Got my first fish with a Rapala today. 7 lb pike with a Black on silver floating Rap. Doing a slow jerk in about 15 foot depths when he came outta the weeds and gobbled her up. I will post a pic very soon. ;D

Congrats on your first of what I'm sure will be many!!! I loved it, I could see perfectly and just the way it happened. I am hooked hahaha. I will be targeting more predatory fish now, The trout on spinners are just not the same.

I hear ya!!! I love when you actually get to see the fish darting in for the attack!! As soon as you see your lure disappear you know the fight is on!!!

My first lure caught pike (i deadbait too) was on a fox micro jointed dolphin in a spotted orange pattern, im not sure if fox lures are sold in the states, but here in the uk they are everywhere. They aren't as effective as rapalas, but they're still pretty good, and are only about £5 each. i caught 2 others on that day on the same lure, and still have it. fox also sell a rubber shad bait called the replicant, which is supposed to be 1 of the best lures available, although it can only really be used for pike and muskies, as the smallest size is 6"!

Alot of flashy and reproductive lures work for Pike. The fish replica jigs work wonders. www.landbigfish.com/images/store/swatches/Storm-LiveSunfish.jpgLike that in perch or walleye pattern. Bring many as the pike tear them up.
