I took my oldest son to Sydney Alley beach (near Herzlia) after work to collect some [pretty] rocks for decoration for his Bar Mitzvah party on Saturday and I took my ultra-light gear as well.
After we did the rock stuff we found a small 'sand bar' sticking out from the main beach (you can see it in the photo below - it's the bit at the far end of the cliffs) and I waded out into the surf to do some
There is some deeper water with a few rocks on the South side of the sand bar.

I even managed to catch a small Sea bream on a CD1

For me it was a 'proof of concept' in that it is possible to catch these proliferate fish on Rapalas. Actually I had quite a few hits but only ended up hooking one - the reason? The shoal were comprised of smaller immature fish and his small mouth only just managed to get the treble in - the others didn't .
Never mind, I'll try again and maybe there will be some bigger ones around.
