Hi guys.
since this last post was not a PM, i guess its OK to start a discussion here about what a hard-to-get rapala may be worth (above the price it cost in the shop).
it seems to me nobody else has any SSR in TSD. if this is not true, i would like to hear about how many are out there, especially on the other side of the atlantic ocean ... (maybe Andy has some since he also has good connections to poland)
anyway, i guess its OK to call this a rare or hard-to-get one.
as you all know by now, these are coming from POLAND; BTW, do we have any members from there? shipping cost are quite high from there to GERMANY, even if we are neighbors (they charge about $23 for a small pack). so i guess the shipping to US will be even a little more; just look at this todopesca-guy named David, he charges $45 for germany, and $300 for USA, for a single rapala that is. fortunately, he doesnt charge more if you order 10 or a hundred ...
well, i dont remember exactly the cost but i think it was about 7 or 8 euro for 1 SSR5 TSD, which at current exchange rate is about $9-11.
if you take all this together, what would you think is a fair price for one of these?
many thanks in advance for your thoughts.
best, w.

$300 bucks to ship one lure that is frickin ridiculous!!!!! I often wondered this myself, as to what a fair price actually is for some of these lures

hello. well, i guess we lost one of the new members due to my fault.
since i brought one on here some months ago, this will level out my new-member-acqusition account to 0. sorry for that ...
there is a one or two people around here who know me well enough (i have been called some here on the board - ridiculous is a good one)
all the new-comers maybe have to learn a little more about what is in this rapala-collecting thing ...
i can understand that with recent price drops on ebay and elsewhere, these people think all rapala have to be low-price now. but i dont see any reason to sell below my cost, as long as my kids get enough to eat with their dad having these bad rapala-collecting habit (... did i thank you for that, Jason!??).
i could have answered - $10 for a SSR5 TSD: no, thank you. but i wanted to try to find out what is a fair price for these. seems it didnt work ...
sorry, wolfgang

Well let me just weigh in on this... Here's a few things to keep in mind about messageboards: Its VERY EASY to misunderstand what someone is saying, because its written, its not the spoke word. The normal cues we take from regular conversation face to face cannot be applied here - Therefore without the diction & inflection of ones voice, you cannot easily determine if someone is being a jerk, or just joking, or whatever. So let's take that into account as a general rule here - and this goes for everyone. If you're not sure if you undestand someone, send emails or pms and get it straightened out. Also, we have a lot of worldwide members here. And sometimes, lets not kid ourselves, their English & typewritten sentences may not be structured the best either. So that that into account too. Not a slight against our foregin members at all - Im sure they probably don't know what the hell I am talking about half the time either. I hate confrontations and usually avoid it. I don't know if this is a result of some sort of disagreement between jbone & cdj, or maybe jbone didn't get the answer he wanted as quickly, or whatever. Was this as a result of private conversations, other threads, or this thread? I don't want to spend my time mediating - there's too much other stuff to do here, in addition to my full time job and two young kids, I'd rather be doing html or something instead of trying to get two members to shake hands. Also - jbone brought up a good point (and Ive heard this from someone else too) - TREAT OUR NEW MEMBERS WITH RESPECT Yeah, we may be the biggest Rapala nerds on the planet and may know more than everyone else, that does not give anyone the right to talk down or belittle anyone else. I haven't seen specific examples - and I had better not, either. Help our new members any which way you can; if we don't enourage and or teach our new members anything...well they simply won't come back, and this place will never grow. And you may have potentially aleinated what could have been a great trading partner. As far as this issue is concerned - I am not going to get into the business of what people pay for and charge for what lures or whatever - that's private business between two people. If you don't like the price someone quotes you, then don't buy anything. Yeah sure some may be high; but buying lures overseas with the crappy US dollar/exchange rate & shipping is not cheap. I've done it before and yes it is true. jbone, personally I have never ever seen a SSR TSD, but if I ever do, I'll be sure to hold onto one for you. Im sure whatever this is it can be worked out; I've said enough, and now I have to get back to my crappy 'real job' Ted

Another point of view on this, is that one rapala in your area that you would consider common because it in every store may be rare or non existence everywhere else. This seems to be fairly common with rapala business practices when it comes to deciding what is imported to certain countries.
As per Wolfgang asking whether SSR in TSD are rare. For the USA market it not available my understanding. Now if someone wants to special order them, maybe they will import them if you work with a distributor, and the minimum quantity can be worked out.
Exchange rates with overseas traders/sellers need to be considered too. Just because we can buy rapalas at Wal Mart for example does mean that is the price per rapala someone else in Europe/Asia is buying them at. USA is the dumping ground for goods manufactured overseas, and other countries do put higher tariffs on imported goods, then the USA.
Whenever a price is set by a seller, he/she feels that what the value is to them. You might not agree with the price, but that is there value not yours. All you have to say in no thank you.
Enough said.

All, Well I had some private conversations with jbone, so I think this was more of a matter of someone just having a bad day, & just a general misunderstanding. As far as Im concerned this water under the bridge; if anyone has any disagreements moving forward please take it up via private messages. Thanks.

TO ALL ..SORRY GUYS ... FUNNY HOW CONFLICT DRAWS SO MUCH INTEREST .. Board drama is always good for ratings ! That's probably why reality TV shows do so well, people only watch because conflicts always erupt ! Welcome back.
