The SSR7 is very good to me in freshwater. If I'm doing any light action saltwater for fish like small 3 pound bluefish and smaller striped bass I enjoy using the SSR9. Colours on the SSR7 that have been very good to me include P, dis SH, BB, SD, and S. I've caught tons and I mean tons of largemouths with the SSR. My personal best bass just under 8 pounds came on a SSR7 P. My new personal best 3 pound chain pickerel came on the dis SSR7 SH. Fish I have caught in freshwater on the SSR7 include laregmouth bass, smallmouth bass, rock bass, rainbow trout, bluegill, pumpkinseed, redbreast, yellow perch, white perch, brown trout, brook trout, chain pickerel, grass pickerel, black crappie, and tiger trout. Still waiting for a walleye and pike to grab it. The SSR7 has caught me 3 out of my top 5 largemouth bass. I have caught ore smallies on the SSR than any other lure. I kill crappie with it and yellow perch love it too. Different retrieves I do with it that work for me include very lightly twitching it on the surface, steady medium retrieve, slow retrieve just under the surface, and give it a hard jerk on the surface and then do it again when it comes back up. Twitching it on the surface is great for bass, pickerel, and crappie. Trolling it while on a canoe with a buddy has caught me tons of bass and crappie at 1 pond.

They are all balsa - they dont seem like a popular 'off the rack' lure - which is surprising, they are vastly underrated and under marketed. I just picked up a few more in Silver, Parrot, Red Crawdad, Firetiger, and Hot Mustard - but I have only been able to get them online, never in store.
