FYI -- Cabela's is now carrying the 05, 08, 10, and 14 models at 6.99. Selected Dick's, as mentioned earlier, carry the 03s as well for 5.99, and currently are running a 20% off promotion on all rapalas through July 3rd. Picked up a couple of the 03's last night (not the moss shad, however, which looked significantly worse than the pictures.)

Yeah, I'm liking that Dick's 20% discount too. I finally picked up the smaller sized Clackin' Rap 06, not a great deal, but the cheapest I had seen it was $9.49, so when I was able to get 20% off Dick's price of $9.99 to get the lure for 8 bucks I had to do it.

Still not liking that the Crankin Raps cost about double what their Storm counterparts do, but I did get an opportunity to try them out on Kentucky Lake last week, and they do catch fish. Had luck with the Helsinki pattern and the Shad pattern.

Hey "Tom", are you referring to the "Trolls To" series that is a slightly more streamlined version of the "Dives To" series? If so they are two completely different animals. I own and use many of the balsa Rapala DTs, they are a great casting & cranking lure. I don't own any of the "Trolls To", just not my style of fishing, but I imagine they could be used for casting (maybe some other 'nation members could share their thoughts). The recently released Crankin' Rap is an entirely plastic molded crank bait, that from everyone's best analysis is just a re-badged Storm lure courtesy of the incorporation. I do like the Crankin' Rap (it catches the snot out of bass), but I'm having a hard time accepting it as a true Rapala, especially when I know I can purchase the same lure under the Storm label for cheaper.

The Trolls-To Minnow surprisingly have great casting distance - very surprising given the length of the lip. Sometimes a large lip almost acts as a sail and impedes its progress through the air, but not on these...just my .02

Just picked up a couple of the crankin raps yesterday. As someone already mentioned they look alot like a Storm wiggle wart to me. I was pleasantly surprised at the price. They were $5.99 ea. at Dick's. They had a limited selection of colors available. There were some that looked like the glass finish. I got one diver and one shallow. The box says to cast them over cover and bang them around. I'm not too good at that, I always seem to get hung. Should be interesting.

They are the exact same lure as the Storm Big Bass series, I guess except these colors are better looking. Good luck with them, I had a lot of success with the CRR-05 in Shad this year...

Ok, I feel stupid now. I didn't notice that there was a second page to this thread. So I just repeated what everyone else was saying. Sorry about that.

Does anyone know whether the Storm Big Bass lures and Rapala Crankin Raps directly/exactly translate? For instance, does:
CRR03 = Big Bass Square #4 CRR05 = Big Bass Square #6 CRR08 = Big Bass #6 CRR10 = Big Bass #10
or did the old "number" on the Big Bass represent depth (in feet) and Rapala slightly modified the depths of the CRRs? Some sites imply that both the squares go 6ft and both of the "rounds" go 10ft, but I'd be surprised if the BBS04 and BB06 didn't run shallower given their relative weight differences.
Thanks

Thanks Don't forget about the CRR-14 at well... All I know is the Rapala ones have the model # designated as their maximum diving depth, so the CRR-03 is 2'-3', the CRR-05 is 4'-5', etc etc...
