I was checking rapala's webpage, and there is a new lure, the Cranckin' Rap. There seems to be no information about this lure, which does not look rapala at all. Anybody has seen it?

Yah I was checking those out awhile back . They look like a storm lure to me . Not backing it . But then again . It might be a great Steel Head lure .

Although it does look too much like a Storm Wiggle Wart to me Although I do like the two shallower sizes, the CRR03 & CRR05 - plus the Moss Shad and Melon Shad are nice color additions... Dammit now after looking at them I have to have them!

Anybody has seen it? osprey I'm not sure about looking like a Rapala or not but those lips on the smaller versions look petty hefty and [hopefully] strong.

O.K. So what do I have here ? Is it a proto type color of the Storm Big Bass lure . Or a Proto type for the Crankin Rap . This has all the same lines and details as the Cranking Rap . But it says Storm on the lip . Either way ... Im glad I didnt sell it . Which I had planned on doing .

I have heard that Dick's Sporting Goods will be carrying them first starting in June of this year. They should be available everywhere else in September...

I hope these new Crankin Raps don't hurt any of the DT Series and the Glass Fat Rap. But I can't wait to get my hands on the CRR-3!

No new colors since the line was rolled out, and they are in bargain bins everywhere. I'd be shocked if it did anything to the DT line...although it wouldnt surprise me if they concentrated on SureSets only...

It's still on their site so I don't know when they'll be discontinuing the lure if they do.

I am going to try to get some as soon as I can, from what I heard you cant get them online anywhere yet, and Dick's Sporting Goods is the only place that will have them now. Supposedly everyone else gets them in September. There are some lots on ebay right now but I have this thing against paying retail but the I will keep everyone posted!

Ted...Don't hate me now. lol Picked up the four different colors of CRR-8 that they had at Cabelas today. I see (on eBay) that you have ripped the eyes out of one of them and given it fiber-optic vision. That was a quick bit of surgery

Yes I did doctor one up and put it on ebay.
They really aren't that expensive compared to X-Raps and Max Raps. $6.99 is the retail price at Cabelas. These went straight into my collection but I will hopefully be going back before thursday to pick some up to fish with.

Well, I found mine today. Not too much of a fan of the Red & Green Crawdad colors, or Brown Bone or the usual Hot Mustard, etc...but the Moss Shad and Shad ones are pretty nice. Its a shame that most places wont end up getting some of the better colors like OPSD and Melon Shad - those are the ones I really wanted. Oh well. Funny thing when I opened the box of one there was an extra eye stuck to the body of one of them..

Bought 2 of the CRR03's and 2 of the CRR05's yesterday at Dicks Sporting goods. Bought my girlfriend one too, but when I got home I realized that they are the same exact thing as the Storm Big Bass Square. Oh well, still a good lure, and I like them more because they don't have the Sure-Set hooks. I have actually missed alot of fish from these hooks. Plus there are more color options now. The Helsinki and Melon Shad colors look nice.
If anyone was still wondering, they retail for $5.99

I too am a Rapala junkie, and must buy at least one of every new lure they put out (not in every color though). I saw these "Crankin' Raps" at Dick's Sporting Goods for the first time early this June. I immediately bought a couple, they seemed fair at around six bucks. Imagine my dismay when later in the month I came accross the same lures, except in different colors and packaged in "Storm Lure" boxes, in Gander Mountain's bargain bins for $2.95. I fully realize Rapala and Storm are owned by the same company, and that it makes financial sense to use the same tooling, but shame on Rapala for gouging it's loyal consumers with recycled product. Just my opinion.

Just my opinion. You're right and I agree, they are basically the Storm Big Bass series lures. I had never really used Storm lures before (or ever) but I probably would have given the Storm lures a try had I known. Then again I was never a big fan of Storms' patterns to begin with....but I have had excellent luck with the CRR05 so far this year..
