Think I'm on to another strange looking J-11, one I haven't seen before.
Last Saturday I had a birthday of a friend of mine, and right in front of his house is a little canel, where a young kid was fishing for pike. I had a look into his tackle box and there were only 3 lures. One of them was a to me strange looking Rapala J-11 it was yellow with a orange belly and some short green stripes on its back.
He agreed to trade it for 2 new Rapala lures. So tonight I will pick it up and make a picture of it.
It's a little scratched but still looks nice.

If that isn't a custom job, then I gotta have a NIB 13 in that color!!!! It is like a reverse Fire Tiger pattern.

That is what made me think it was a custom. Solid belly color. If Jason has seen it somewhere before, then odds are, we be needing some NIB of that!!!

I look at it closer and damn if it doesn't look like a custom job done to a SFC.

Ive been known to be wrong a time or to .
But man if that is custom painted , They did a hell of a job . Especially with the masking job .

why mask it. Couldn't they just coat the spots they don't want painted with some vasolene?

If you notice the eyes on the top-shot picture. One eye is all in yellow, the other is partially in the red/orange. Don't get me wrong, I want it to be real. I want another J lure to shoot for. I would just prefer to see a box  |

I remember my dad used to paint his wheels on his truck that way . Spread a little vasoline on the tire and paint away . |

Never tried that. Just thought of it since I had to use that to hold the washer and lock washer on the bolts holder my downriggers on. I could barely reach them with my hand to get the nut started and there was no way I could get all three on at the same time LOL. As far as cutting tape to cover the eyes and such....I can't even draw stick figures man  |

At the moment I'm working on getting another colour like this one, and perhaps in another size.
I know that there are more jointed lures in coulours that we have not seen before.
Last week I was fishing with a guy he had a J-11 in another firetiger like colour. I did not have a camera with me because the weather was terrible that day, but I do see him again in about two weeks. If I do I will make a picture of this lure.
Last year I had a J-9 in the colour white with some fluo-orange stripes on it's back. I sold it because i did not realize how special it was at that moment.
I also know there is a purple jointed around, but the last time I've seen that one was about 7 years ago.
I will keep you guys posted.

Just had a response to my add, from a guy who says he also has one, also in the size 11. Still working on buying it from him.
Another guy told me that this colour was for sale about 10 years ago here in Holland.

Yeah, That's where I've seen it, is in the Jan Eggers Collection. He makes all kinds of neat colors. Like Jason, I knew I had seen this color before. Sadly I don't have one, but maybe dutchie will find one in the box for me I do have one of the Jan Eggers jointed in Black. Its pretty sweet. Anyways, thought I would chime in and put to rest the real/fake argument. Nice find dutchie and thanks for the quality photos. Keep us posted if you do find more for us non-hollanders. |
