MAYBE SOMEBODY CAN GIVE ME INFORMATION ABOUT A RAPALA LURE I PICKED UP ON EBAY A WHILE BACK. IT IS A CD13 MAGNUM WITH THE METAL LIP. WEIRD PART IS IT IS SILVER ON ONE SIDE AND GOLD ON THE OTHER. DOESN'T LOOK TAMPERED WITH OR FADED OUT TO ME. THANKS

Could you send us a pic of both sides? It sounds interesting. Can't really speculate until we see it.

That thing really does look weird. It looks like it came from the factory like that too. Maybe it's just smoke and mirrors

WELL YOU ARE HALF RIGHT. HAD TO USE A MIRROR TO TAKE THE PHOTO TO GET BOTH SIDES TO SHOW. I'VE SEEN LOTS OF RAPALAS OVER THE YEARS. I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A SECOND LOOK TO MAKE SURE BOTH SIDES WERE THE SAME COLORS IN ALL OF THEM. I FIGURED THAT SOMEHOW THE ONE GOLD SIDE HAD FADED OUT WHEN I BOUGHT IT. BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE IT TO ME. WONDER HOW MANY MORE ARE OUT THERE LIKE IT?

That looks authentic from the picture. I've never seen a screwed up paint job that bad before. I have however seen boxes atleast that messed up.

Let me see if I can dig it up , but I have an old HJ that is like that . But I think it was from the sun . I was thinking it maybe had something to do with the coloring in the foil .

If I had to guess there isn't many of those around-even if it is just fading or discoloration it's still a killer conversation piece

THANKS, RAPANATIC. ACTUALLY I DON'T THINK IT HAS FADED TO GET THE TWO COLORS AFTER I FINALLY GOT IT AND LOOKED AT IT. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THE BLACK BACK ON THE FADED SIDE WOULD HAVE BEEN FADED TOO. BUT IT ISN'T. I'M CERTAIN IT WAS MADE THAT WAY. I'LL BE INTERESTED TO SEE WHAT RAPALA HAS TO SAY. I WROTE TO THEM ABOUT IT. IF THEY DO WRITE ME BACK.

It doesn't look like it is faded at all. Look at the mouth as well.

I once sent something that never had to leave the county much less the state of Indiana. Ended up with a New Hampshire post mark on it. No wonder stamps costs so much.

That thing would be great for fishing - if the fish don't want a silver shiner then they can just swim to the other side and have a gold chub for lunch ;D

Here's what I know (Or at least, Think I know)
1. Wicked....Looks factory to me....Very Interesting...
2. if the front hardware is what I think I see, it would appear to be the 1st version of the metal lip era baits Which came after the short lived plastic lipped magnums..
And those early magnums have a different plastic lip angle than those that we find on todays magnum series.
3. A box would have been very cool to see.
(damn, I'm working a ton, been busy as S$%T, And look at all this cool stuff, ya'll are finding.)

Redtail, I was also bidding on this lure, but lucky you won. I looked like a factory mistake to me and as RAPALA GURU it looks like one of the first CD Magmuns made. I have the first ones in Silver,Gold, Blue and GFR. I think that are all the colors they made back then. If you would like to sell or trade it just let me know.

WELL, I GOT A LETTER FROM RAPALA TODAY ABOUT THE CD-13. HERE IS WHAT THEY SAID:
``WE DO NOT SELL ANY LURES THAT HAVE SILVER ON ONE SIDE AND GOLD ON THE OTHER SIDE. IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE BUYING OUR PRODUCT THEN PAINTING OUR PRODUCT A DIFFERENT COLOR(S) TO CUSTOMIZE THEM. SOME OF THESE PEOPLE ARE SELLING THEM FOR PROFIT ON EBAY AS WELL. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS INFORMATION TO OUR ATTENTION.''
THERE ISN'T ANY WAY THE LURE WAS PAINTED. I PRINTED OUT THE PHOTO TOO AND SENT THAT ALONG WITH THE LETTER SO THEY COULD SEE IT. OH WELL.
GUESS I'LL KEEP IT NEXT TO THE FRISBEE I HAVE THAT WHAM-O SAYS THEY NEVER MADE EITHER.

I forgot all about this topic . I still think the discoloration is due to the sun . Weather it faded the gold to silver or the clear coat yellow'd due to age . Either way , like we said before it still is a cool piece .

WONDER HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO FADE OUT. I WAS EXPERIMENTING AND I PUT ONE SILVER AND ONE GOLD ON MY DASHBOARD LAST JANUARY. I LEFT THEM IN THE BOXES. THE LURE COLORS HAVEN'T CHANGED. THE PRINTING ON THE BOXES HAS FADED OUT SOME. THE PLASTIC LIDS HAVE WARPED A LOT FROM THE HEAT OVER THE SUMMER. LOOKS LIKE THE FINISH ON THE GOLD ONE MIGHT HAVE A CRACK IN IT.

somewhere in my collection i have a j-11 thats S with a SFC tail section, factory made. i guess that sometimes they tried some color experiments, and the left overs got handed out at the Rep confrences and annual mettings, thats how i got mine, from a former rep that had gone to the annual convention and had been given some real odd lures and had also bought a few, one was a SSH black pearl orange F-3 from when it was in testing, turned out that color actually did get some box time, so the proto type isnt a big deal now. i have left lures on my dash board also, SFC will all-but dissapear, and baby bass fades quite badly off of my DT-6. but nothing like this silver/gold up top here, thats a pretty neat find. jeff and the return of the missing enter button.
