Gold plated Clown J-9?

Hey folks,

Has anyone ever seen silver plated Clown with GOLD instead of silver before? I have a picture of a J-9, but its kind of hard to tell from the pic - has anyone ever seen similar examples of this?

i once had here a set of F11s

SB in silver and gold body

and

CLN in silver and gold body

now, these are located in sunny california ...

i also have seen the different colors on J13 CLN.
and i just got a CD-9 CLN from Mark with gold body.

my own theory on this is, that the silver plating on the first ones did not always work out, and some got into this gold, and thats why they stopped them after quite a short while.

i never saw any of this on plastic body lures such as RFR, DRFR, SRRS, so i think the plating process did not work on the wood, but never caused any problems on plastic.

it would be nice if anybody out there can confirm this, or come up with another theory, or even give us the real explanation for this phenomenon.

Thanks for the info on this - I figured maybe it was a flaw in production and simply just let go. Are any of them marked as specials by any chance?
