Greetings to everyone from a new member / first time poster!
I have a few Inox floating Rapalas put away. I was thinking of acquiring a few more for fishing for toothy critters like Pike, Muskie, and some South American species. (Almost every lure in my collection is subject to getting wet.)
Does anyone know the original reason for manufacturing a stainless steel rapala?
Does anyone collect/deal them?
I believe the smaller sizes are out of production. I'm not sure about the larger.
They appear occasionally on eBay, but not often.
Thanks!

Another new Member Welcome aboard . I think the Stainless steel Rapala was originally desinged with the salt water fisherman in mind . I collect just about all Rapala/ Normarks stuff . But I honestly could'nt tell you a whole lot about these . I do no they are still available . In sizes 7 9 11 14 and 18 . But they are no longer still in procuction for here in the U.S.A . Not sure why ? Lack of sales probably .

welcome new member.
can we have a name please?
I am collecting magnum floating size 7 all colors. and it seems the 7s are discontinued. at least here in europe they are not on any dealers list or catalog.
what I have for trade in magnums is the following:
MAG CD-10 MS, MAG-9: CLNss, MAG-11: RFSH, BMss, Jan Eggers (HT-like), MAG-14: BMss, FT, PM, CLN (ss), CG, MAG-18: SSH, PM, MAG-7: PM, GM, RH, GFR
I also have a stainless countdown 14 i think in a color similar to BM, have to check back kome for correct code but it could be SSB.
let me know if you need any of this or have any size 7 for trade.
thanks, wolfgang

hi, rapala made the SS lures for toothy fish like you mentioned, they are just tuffer. as far as i can tell, they are only stainless steel electorplated, just like the silver plated lure they used to as still make. i know for sure that the mag, the skitter pop, and the RNR were all offered in the SS format. and i think a few hj's were too. my guess is that just like the silver plated lures, they found that the extra cost of adding precious metals to the surface of the baits led those baits to a disadvange on the shelf because the price had to come up, or they had to sell them for the same as the painted ones, and the profit per unit was then down. they still make lots of them i know, but you have to check with saltwater specialist. i do have some of the rnr and some mags. Thanks, Jason! I've been reluctant to do a lot of international purchasing, but it looks like it may be necessary.
Wolfgang, I'm Charlie. Nice to meet you!
I have the following in INOX: 11 SDG (gold shad) 11 BRH (black red head) 9 CLN (clown) 7 BRH (black red head) 7 (not sure, maybe mullet or cisco? It's silver/black with perhaps a hint of blue on the sides)
My 7s are unused, but I no longer have the boxes. I am reluctant to trade them, as I imagine catching piranha with them someday! :-)
There is someone on ebay selling a number of Inox Rapalas, including 7s: wc-digger (digger's-fishing-tackle) but they are in Austraila.
Your 14BMss and 14CLNss are very interesting to me, but right now my collection is small, and having seen some of yours (online) I doubt I have much that you are interested in! ;-)
Jeff, thanks for the technical info! I was reluctant to cut one of my lures in half to see what it was made of! ;-)
I'll have to look into the saltwater market more, as we don't see a lot of specialized ocean tackle here in the Midwest.

Digger might have more lures than the rest of us combined. He's a good guy.

I learned a few more things recently...
"Inox" is a term the rest of the world uses for "stainless steel." Duh... on me.
And 2: There are Inox Husky Jerks. I recently acquired one: SHJ-12 SSGRMU (Green Mullet)
And 3: Trying to cover fresh and salt water on two continents can be challenging.

I have a few of the size 7 magnum floaters strictly to throw a meatier shallow runner at the shorelines. Much easier to cast than your regular ole F-7... And welcome aboard

Everyone:
Currently there are a lot of CD-22 SS Mags on eBay. The colors are consistent with stainless steel plating.
Are the CD-22 SS really stainless/inox plated?
I don't see the usual words "stainless steel" or "Inox" on the boxes, so I'm not sure.
Any help would be appreciated.

Digger might have more lures than the rest of us combined. He's a good guy. G'day me old mate. If you're referring to me in Oz, thanx & yep have heaps & the ones missing from my collection i know who pretty much has the rest of the discontinued range from 7-11. I have a couple of 8's and 7 patterns in 10's with 6 available for trade. BM i only have 3 left and won't part with them. In 7,cm I have most patterns including the following with a few missing in 9cm & 11cm: PEARL/OR, BLUE MACK, GREEN MACK, SILVER, SILVER/BLACK, DORADO, SARDINE, GFR, FIRETIGER, PURPLR MACK, SILVER GREEN MACK. No goldfish unfortunately In INOX: BM, GM, SDG, BRH, CLN which i think are the 5 INOX patterns without looking. I'll have to check stocks if anyone wants any above patterns as i do have a few holes with lures for trade. CD-10: FT, GFR, SFC, SGM, GM, RH for trade. Lots of CD-14 & 18 but they can be gotten basically from anywhere. I also have a few boxes & lids in perfect condition if anyone needs them. I'm after a few Sliver SL-13 patterns {have to check codes and what i have} & the following CLN lures to finish my rapala collection. J-7, 9, 11. F-13, CD-11 as well as F-13 PD. Thanx all & Regards, Dave...

To Magnum fans; We have a number of inox/stainless steel magnums available in various sizes on our www.tackle-box.net web store. They are priced at about half of their original price. If these are of interest, you might want to take a look. We also have a great selection of other tackle at great prices. Thanks, Tackle Box
