Jason didn't you post a pic of one of these 'blue firetiger' Fat Raps once? I'm getting old and cant remember if I had seen it before...

when i see the picture like that, its just really hard to tell if that lure has faded into a sort of blue color, or if its just bad picture quality that makes it look that way, or if it is an old special lure that really is blue. it doenst surprise me that rapala would have made a blue firetiger(would that be a water tiger or something maybe), and the fact that if anyone had one jason would is no surprise either, just have never seen one in person yet.

The last picture really makes it look blue, but then again, I could see where it looks like it could be faded as well. Maybe I need to leave a fat rap in the sun and find out?

hi guys.
there was a big display board on ebay germany some time ago, and i could not belive my eyes, all these nice new strange colors. Jörg posted the pic here and we got in a nice discussion about bleaching (or fading as you call it) of colors.
yes, it seems this one has been lying in the sun for too long.
and i also had the idea to put some rapala in the sun, you just would have to make it turn around all the time to get an even bleach or leak of colors, something like a motor for turning barbecue or such was on my mind, and then we have all these perfect newand rare rapala colors ...
besides the FT the OCW and the CG also give very nice effects when put in the sun (or i think this is the UV part of sunlight) for too long.
best, wolfgang

if i remember correctly, that's an old type of saltwater color (there should be a similar one in the magnum series). take a look at the trebles, these are the saltwater version (here in italy some lures, such as cd shad raps, were sold with different trebles by the color, if you bought a rh one it would have stainless steel hooks while other colours would have just "normal" bronze trebles) just look at this, and select the "silver mackerel" color www.rapalaworld.com/lure.php?s=aWQ9NDMmc2l2dT1jb2xvcnMmdHlwZT0xJnA9MSZoPTNSR3NqMDMy#

For me its bleached by hard sunlight and was formerly a firetiger pattern. I've seen a picture of french/german author Olivier Portrat fishin in Lake Nasser for Nileperch recently. He had a lure racket above his steering wheel with shame bleached Super Shad Raps and other huge hard baits like rapala magnums, russellure and depth raiders. Thought first this SSR14 was a mackerel too with the uncommon the blue back. I've seen fading brown and orange also on crawdad HJ, some CD-GFR, SFC and the orange in constant guigo color, but most on fluo yellow that in combination with blue is the basis for our fluo green (chartreuse) in the Firetiger. Damn there is always hot desert and sunny weather. Maybe wolfgang should sent a package to Africa quick to get his lures right back before christmas. ;D BTW: Not the only manufactur with this problems. I' bought in the bay a 16" Turus Ukko in Perch color with one side light bleached....

guys , i had this lure in my hands and i think it looks awful good to me ..i dont see how it could have faded so evenly all over ..it still has a orange strip on the belly between the front hook hanger and the lip ..i dont really know enough about the special colors to draw a for sure conclusion ..i think it looks grest ..id like to have it to put in my collection ..just my opinion ...ripper ...

I noticed that when these Fat Raps are fished in Saltwater they also tend to fade and become strange coloured.

My fiance's dad finds a lot of rapalas (they go swimming for them) and he has quite a few "blue firetiger" originals, and seeing how it would have to be a "special" color I seriously doubt there are as many as he finds. I would say its all just from sun fading

I think it's a faded/discolored Firetiger...the back was originally green but is now somewhat blue.
