Color Code Help

Hey guys. I am looking for some help with color codes:


I have the box for the darker one. Its color code is CW - Crawdad. What about the lighter one?



The one with silver sides is SB - Silver Blue. I received the other one with gold sides without a hang tab...Any ideas?

My guess is the lighter CW is either faded or just a color variation, but it is definitely CW. I think other folks have seen the silver plated lures before with gold instead of silver. Not a different color pattern, just a rare variation/mistake lure.

i think ted may be right as those are silver plated, as a teen i worked on a chrome line, and when they did not plate right the nickle would show a golden colour ,i think this is what happens to some of the rapala's, looks cool though,

This subject has been brought up a few other times .
As for the CW . There is no question they are both color code CW . In my oppinion . There was a short time that they may have used a different brown color . I have seen the light colored one new in the box . Id agree with the fading . But then the ones I had looked at would probably only have been faded on one side . Which was not the case . Im not saying fading wouldnt happen . Just saying I do beleive this is just a different color paint .

And for the Silver Blue Fat Raps . I see the gold ones alot in Japan for some reason . Not sure if they had a differnt supply of baits .
Or like Mark also mentioned . That it kind of depends on how they do the plating . If its not done quite right , it will turn the more gold color . Either way they are both SB color code .

Even though they are both coded the same . I will continue to collect them as if they are different

Thanks for all the help guys. The light CW does not appear to be faded version of the darker cw. It must be a paint variation.

lol yes I will still collect the two sb like they are different.
