Ok, are these Tail Dancers and Long Cast lures, REALLY limited editions?
I mean cmon, I would think if something is really a limited edition you are only looking at a one or two year production run, max.

Now here is my story............... I read in a fishing magazine about the Long cast and how there were only going to be 30,000 made. I made a few phone calls and thought I was lucky enough to have found a few shops that had them in stock. Out I headed and picked up six of various patterns. Well that was almost a year ago........The shops still have them and the manager says he has no problem getting more. Now I am wondering................ The other thing was, there are two types, the long casting and the long cast. the latter being the "limited" I found I had to explain the difference to the "expert" behind the counter. Anyway, I agree, are the really "limited"

ok, heres my story. these little LE tail dancers is what got me started in Ebay and Rapala collecting in general. about 2 months before the TD came out, i discovered ebay, and started looking for old antique fishing lures. well on a blind search though the fishing catagory on ebay i found a few auctions for standard rapala lures and decided to look more closely. i couldnt believe it, i saw lures i had never saw before, ebay wasnt as big back then, and the really special lures i was seeing were like old SFR's (going for about $22) and a few huskys and pearl shad raps. up to then i didnt even know that rapala made a SFR, let alone that they were worth so much. so i watched, looking for a deal, and decided then and there that i wanted to collect rapalas, thinking when i get a full collection i will start something else...wait, did i say a full collection, i really didnt have any idea yet as to what all was out there to get, now i know that i will never have a full collection, but im going to keep trying. well i see these new limited edition taildancers in a sales flyer for a local store for $7 each, no way was i going to pay that much for one, even if they were only makeing 300,000 of them, well someone stumbled and put a few on ebay, i noticed that they were selling on there for decent prices, so i broke down, i drove up that night, and bought 1 of each color and size, came home and put them on ebay quickly, buy it now of $125 per each set of 10, when i woke up, i find that both of them sold within 2 hours, so the next day i went back up and bought 40 more, thinking i had bought 60 of 300,000 and didnt know just how many this store was going to get. well i started to get $20 a lure and i ran the store basically dry, until i couldnt put sets of all the colors together anymore, i had sold over 250 of them, and thats getting to be some serious play if the whole world is only going to get 300,000. well i found out after that i though 300,000 total when it was actually 300K of each color and each size, and the count started over every year, 300K X 10 colors X 2 sizes(later 3 sizes) X every year = a not so limited edition, well i made a lot of money on these, so i was happy, even if they werent as collectable as i had thought, at least others did, for a while. then the long cast came, i didnt even bother, they started out going for about $10 each and quickly droped to under $6 each on ebay, i did buy a few and sell to collectors i know wanted them. but now they are still making them, and many no longer have the limited edition in the corner of the box, so there is a chance that many years down the road, some of these first edition lures will be worth more again. I had heard early on that it was 300,000 of each color each year so I couldn't understand why people paid so much Regardless the taildancer and loncasts have been good lures to me. I still haven't finished collecting them. Always looking for a good deal, anybody have some, perhaps you trap have some left over? ;D Speaking of LE Rapala's, do any of you(Trap) know under what promotion rapala put out those Lambeau field promo lures. They look cool and all but I'm not too excited by logo lures, just wondered when, why, who gave them away.

i do have a few taildancers left in GRT, FT, and GFR. but thats about it for now. but as far as the packer lures, i have very little info. all i know is i walked into a local chain store that has the best rapala selection in the area, sometimes they suprize you. walk in and right in front of me theres a display with these lures on them, so i bought about 5 thinking they might sell well, or if nothing else, the color was good. these arnt stadium giveaways or anything, and i dont think there exclusive to this chain store either, no word as to limited numbers, in fact the last one i was into yesterday had at least 200 of those lures hanging up. im sure there only in WI, but i doubt that say MN will have vikings lures or anything else. my theory is that the packers did it as some sort of quiet promotion because they rebuild a good portion of lambeau field last year. they(the packers) and rapala both have good relations with the local chain that covers most the northern midwest. sorry for being so vage, but i must protect my sources. this store also had exclusive color jigging raps this past winter, plus i found 1 pearl jigging, got some more black jigging minnows, and a few purple/pink jigging. oh yeah, plus all the ornaments, plus all my rapala t shirts (about $8-10 each on sale). what a great store. trap

Sounds like a great store. If you ever come across an abundant amount of some special colored Rapala's let me know. I'm usually interested.
