I have caught about 18 4-5 inch shiners and suckers, and put them in a 4 ft cooler full of water, and two ariator pumps in it. What should i feed these fish in order two keep them alive for like 5 days?

Most of the times I have done this . I feed them regular old aquarium fish food . But 9 out of 10 times they wont eat any thing . Although even if they dont eat they should survive 5 days without food . As long as the water is not contaminated and they have plenty of air . Sounds like you have that . FYI Around these parts its illegal to transport live minnows any where out side of the lake they came from . But what isnt illegal any more

hey nathen, i have been keeping minnows and fish in my aquariums for a while. as of right now i have a 75 gallon tank with 2 lake shiners, 1 small chub, 2 golden chubs, and 5 bullheads. i started with a half dozen of the golden(sometimes rainbow) chub, but those little buggers can jump and several of them the cats found on the floor and made off with them. but within just a few days they figured out the whole flake food thing, and all the fish in my tank now are ravanise little guys at feeding time, so will even jump out at my hand sometimes while im putting the flake food in, the bull heads get a large pellet of food that sinks, and they find it as it disolves, sometimes even on the fall, that is if the other minnows arent after it already. im still looking for a couple small redfin pickeral to put in, since i am kinda an esox nut. any of you guys out east ever find them in a trap, please let me know. jeff

well the fish lived to see the hook this weekend. I had them on a quick strike rig, with a large thrill bobber and slip stop. The first day a nice pike grabs it and i had it hooked.......but my excelllent knot tying skills let me down, and my hook came untied. From now on i'm double checking my knots.
