I was just wondering what everyone prefers as their favorite reel? I have always been a Mitchell man. 300, 304, 308 have been my old standbys for years. I have been slowly switching to Shimano TX series. They perform wonderfully. Ever since I got into salmon fishing, I have fallen in love with the Ambassadeur 6000 levelwind reels. Not much of a casting reel, but for jigging and trolling, it is just great. Plus it holds 300 yds on line. Has a baitclicker. The only thing it lacks is a line counter. I am thinking about getting a couple more for drift fishing giant flatheads. Haven't really tested the drag as far as having to turn a fish to keep it out of the junk though. Just picked up a pair for under 100 bucks on Ebay. Since they cost 60 each at Walmart, that isn't too bad of a deal. I must say the salmon bug has bitten me hard. Real men don't fish for trout....I can still say that Just spent 100 bucks on 99 salmon spoons lol. Now I have to get my downriggers ;D Better shut up before I write a book. 3 hours sleep in the last 40 hours will do that to ya!

Well my rod and reel arsenal isnt real impressive, since my equipment tends to take a beating.
I mainly use spinning reels, and only have one casting reel, a Shimano Curado - cant see spending over 100 bucks on a reel myself - then again Fathers Day is coming ;D
I tend to favor and usually use Fin-Nor reels and Quantums myself...although the newer Mitchells are real nice and is one of my faves.

My big sticks (heavy trolling) are equipped with Abu Garcia 6500 C3's. The bait caster that I actually cast alot with is a Quantum Accurist AC500CX. That reel is super smooth and doesn't have any plastic parts in it. It's been a real tough unit - Cabelas has the blue and red ones right now for 65.00 which is a pretty good deal. For my spinners I use 3 Mitchells and have 2 Rapala reels.

My Baitcasting reel is an Abu Garcia - REVO STX and my spinning reel is an Abu Garcia C502.
both great reels, very smooth and they feel very solid. not like some of the cheaper reels that feel like theyd fall apart adter one hit.

On my spinning reels I use Shimano Symetre 2500 for bass and the 1500 on for crappie and bream.
My baitcaster's I use the Abu Revo's and Ambassadors.

Another Symetre fan here. I use the 2500 and the 4000 for 90% of my fishing.
