Just got back from my cabin on my favorite lake and learned a few things. Lesson one, no matter how much I detest using a steel leader, use one any way -3 rapala lures. Lesson two, even using a steel leader, a bigger pike can still come in and eat the smaller one you have on the line -2 rapala lures. Lesson three, pike love hot steel shallow shad raps +1 42 inch pike I didn't get my 20 inch smallmouth, but I did pick up a few 18 inchers. The biggest walleye was only 6+ pounds. Super shads and jointed xraps are hard to cast to shore, probably best trolled, unless the fish don't my the large plop when they hit the water Caught just about everything on shallow shadrap 8s. PD survived the trip, but it is chewed up. HS is still in a pike somewhere, as is the bluegill and perch colored ones I guess I will need a stockpile of size 9 before I go back to the cabin.

Hell, losing lures to fish is a hell of a lot better than losing them to stumps or riprap. I'd sarifice a few lures here and there as long as Im catching fish... Nice pike too
