Im gonna be bass fishing this weekend up in michigan, im gonna try to catch a bass on my x-raps, and LCM's. In this months In-Fisherman, it says to use fast eratic retrieves with x-raps in the summer, so i'll try this out, and let you guys know how i do.

Did you do any drift fishing at night? Nice way to pick up some walleye shallow and pick up some nice cats. 10 inch goggle eye are pretty nice fish. Better fishing than what I had this weekend. Spent mine at work

Which rapalas do you recondmend at night?

Nightcrawlers on a crawler harness with either glow in the dark orange/green/chartreuse blades.
If I was going to slow troll a rapala in the shallows at night, I would have to go with a shallow shad or a jointed shad. I have done well trolling a f7 or f9.

Last time I did any night fishing, me & a friend drove out into the middle of the lake, threw out stinkbaits for cats, then got shitfaced on beer. Man that was fun as hell

hahahaha, what about glow in the dark shad raps?

Glow in the dark would work. They aren't shallow shads, so I am not convinced on them yet Worst case scenario, take Ted's Advice and bring something to drink

I have to follow this up with the mention that I have caught almost as many catfish sober as I have drunk, and I have caught a lot of catfish ;D

Wow, now i know why catfisherman are always stereotyped as drunk dudes fishing with stink bait in the middle of the night, when normal people are sleeping... hahahahaha

The glowin shad raps have been killer here even at 2.75 mph at night. But you just can't beat a leech anytime of the day for walleyes but then again leeches are almost out of season. If you want to get shit faced try a slip bobber-in my opinion it's the best for live bait.

What about gulp leaches, should I jig em, cast em or what?

I used those at the begining of the season and used a floating jig with 2 hooks-worked ok and never really thought jiggin would be any good but who am I to say. I slip bobber with live leeches so it could work

Are you using a slip bobber for catfish through the night? I rather throw out some lines on the bottom, crack open a beer and sit by the fire. Really sucks when the fire burns through the bottom of the boat and goes out though. Hard to see your lines when that happens.

Well, im back, and i had a pretty good time night fishing this time. Altogether i caught 4 bass, and missed 2 more while nightfishing. They were caught on the red glow in the dark #7 shad rap, the #5 green glow in the dark shad rap, and gulp swimming minnows on a pink glow in the dark jighead. Was out till 11 each night, and really enjoyed it. It was very peacefull, and relaxing, and i had my cd player with me too, which helped the relaxation. Only problem i had was the bass boats on the lake with no lights! Nearly ran into 2 of those idiots.

I fished this weekend at Lake Hopatcong (Fishooked knows) we were trolling rapalas in about 12 feet of water. I was rolling the down deep husky jerk in glass pearl white. BANG 7lb 2 oz walleye 29 inches. Swited to the #18 hot steel and picked up 2 3 lbers and 1 2 lber. This weekend I will break out the super shads and jointed xraps and xrap magnums for muskie. ITS ON. mike D

I love the DHJ's for mid-late summer. My DHJ-10 in silver feels like you took 120 grit sandpaper to it from all the teeth scraps and gouges-it was new this year . Glad both of you landed some fish and had some fun. Report back on the muskie adventure. ;D
