Just went to the BPS Job fair after doing my midnight shift. They open 2/15/2007 right near my home. Would be nice to work there part time and get the Employee Discount Wonder what the discount would be on a big lake boat LOL. It will also be nice to see what they actually pay for their Rapala lures. They could just pay me in Rapalas!!!

Lol. You would certainly know more than any store clerk would. Also you could convince the manager to bring in some of those nice overseas patterns for the rest of us.

Yeah Bodeen, I wish there were more people like you working at those big name outdoor stores, that actually know there stuff. Right now it seems like the only experienced, and helpful people when tackle shopping, are the ones at small local tackle stores. They'll tell you anything you want to know in order to sell their stuff. I do believe that there are some experienced and helpful people working at big name outdoor stores, but they can be a rare find.

Some guy at Gander Mtn. tried to convence me that my digital fish scale stopped working because I weighed 30lb carp, and 2 lb bass on the same 50lb scale? It was only 2 weeks old. Lmao when the clerk woman asked what i was doing with it I thought "Oh you know, just hooked it on the ceiling, and hung on in by my feet... Here's your sign..."

Well, yesterday I went for my second interview and by three oclock this afternoon I was called to come in for the 3rd interview. Of course they told me they couldn't come close to matching what I make now but if I would be interested in a PT spot, they would love to have me. I wonder if I could transfer to Asia or Europe for a week or two

Are you only doing the interview to get some perks?

Post by Bodeen on Dec 7, 2006 15:19:09 GMT -4
I have no idea what there perks are, but the pay should be atleast two Rapalas an hour. Don't you think?

Yes I suspect their pay range is around 2R units. If offered 3R units/hour you should definately take it.

With the employee discount, the R unit rate should go up quite a bit.

Hooks are a big no-no in carry on luggage. Yours truly was read the riot act by the TSA for forgetting I had a Swedish Pimple jig lure with treble hook in my coat pocket. Apparently no sympathetic fisherman working for the TSA. The KNEW I was going to use that as a weapon, rather I forgot it in my pocket after surf casting. Made me toss it in the trash. Atleast it wasn't a rapala. All rapala's go checked baggage, double wrapped.

Looks like Johnny Morris will be at our grand opening too. Some pros will be there from time to time giving demos and what not. Sounds like it might be interesting.

I don't supose you have heard if they are giving away the Limited Edition Rapala RNR's to the first 500 customers like they have at a few of the recent BPS openings?
Hmmmm... Only about 200 miles for me.... That might be enought to insipire me to do the road trip. ;p

Already had my first day I did hear that there might be some NASCAR people at the grand opening. #20 does have some BPS sponsorship. Might have to have him sign me a super shad rap. Of course, that one won't go on the leisure suit.

Got our shipment of Rapala in today. Now when I say shipment, I don't mean we got dealer boxes of each color of each size of each model. I mean we got in 4 by 8 foot pallets stacked 6 foot tall with nothing but RAPALA lures on them. They asked me where I wanted to work and I told them I would be in the Rapala aisle the rest of the night. They said, "you sure" and I was like abso-f,ing-lutely!!!!
I had balsa all night!!!!! ;D

Got in some Storm Big Bass lures and they look pretty good. Might have to give them a shot. If I am remembering correctly, they come with sureset hooks. Only place I have ever worked where I can say, "Damn, what a nice rack". and not have an HR issue
