Hi! Very popular Rapala in Europe, but hard to find it surely is, the CDJ. How many different colors can be found. I know S, G, P, SFC, GFR, CLN, HT but maybe there were muuuuch more versions available? Gerd Müller

What makes this series (CDJ) and a couple of others is...
The lack of catalog information.
I got a couple of early rapala (USA) catalogs that lists some info.
I also have a couple of Oversea's editions that lists some information.
I've yet to see a Japan edition catalog that shows any information on the series.
Like I've said, this series and a couple of others are hard to follow, research and or get any kind of 'solid' time line
Bomber, Can I ask you a question.?
I know some european countries tackle stores are a tad bit on the small size. And I've been told by a couple of these shops that because of this, they tend to take the lures out of the packaging (boxes, etc)
Is this also true with some German tackle shops. or tackle shops where you live ??

Yes - I have often seen lures without packaging at the shops but never Rapalas (maybe the glue is too tough these days) No it's probably only done to cheaper lures. Rapalas are more expensive in EU than in USA. USA is obviously the single most important market for Rapalas.

I may be a little slow these days, I guess I can put that down as an age thing. I've got a few more gray hairs then the rest of the guys here. But if what you told Nollie is correct? Well then, this is quite a day. Welcome Sir, Because of my "somewhat" advanced Middle Age. I have to ask.... So, "Football" is and was your Passion & Profession? Do the following look fimilar ? International honours 62 International appearances, 68 goals 1974 FIFA World Cup Germany™ Champion 1970 FIFA World Cup Mexico™ third place European Championship winner: 1972 1970 FIFA World Cup™ Golden Boot (10 goals) FIFA World Cup™ all-time leading scorer (14 goals) Clubs 1955 - 1964 TSV Nördlingen 1964 - 1979 Bayern München 1979 - 1981 Fort Lauderdale Strikers 1981 - 1982 Smith Brothers Lounge Club honours 1969, 1972, 1973, 1974 German Champion 1974, 1975, 1976 European Cup Champion 427 Bundesliga appearances, 365 Bundesliga goals (record) 74 European Cup appearances, 66 goals 7-time Bundesliga top scorer -- 1967 (28 goals), 1969 (30), 1970 (38), 1972 (40), 1973 (36), 1974 (30), 1978 (24) And if You are who I think you are? What would it cost me to get an Autographed Rapala lure from you. And Nollie, Thanks for pointing this out.... Well, Der Bomber... What Can you tell us about yourself? Anyway, Steve "Rapala-Guru"

Well Rapalaguru - though I may not be as famous as the real "Bomber" who is to soccer what Joe Montana is to football I'd be happy to sign a Rapala for you (though it may actually decrease its value) I am still the proud owner of the name Gerd Müller (quite common in Europe) and my favourite perch lure is well actually a Bomber fat type lure.

Ok, well now that I've aged myself. I can't say that I'm really into soccer, however i have over the years kept an eye on it.
As for the common names over there, I sometimes forget about that aspect.
I can remember my first trip oversea's. I spent some time visiting the Isle of Wight.
I can't tell how weird it was to walk around and see my last name plastered all over the place.
It did work in my favor when I went into a pub. Asked why I was visiting, and then telling the Barmaid, that I was over here to visit the land of my Great Great Grandparents and then show them my Id. I did like a good pint or two back then, maybe a shot to go with it. (I no longer drink)
Anyway, Bomber. Sorry bout my confusion.

Nollie oh-oh Nollie it is hard to be a Hanseat and not to like Werder though HSV and (St. Pauli) are my favourites Actually I liked the original MLS (late 1970s) and the favouirite was New York Cosmos (wegen "Der Kaiser") but best nationalteam ever was perhaps Holland 1988 with Van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard etc. Oh man they nocked every other team groggy during the European Championship You welcome Steve, no problem

some questions regarding the list: SFC Silver Fluorescent Chartreuse - this is foil no red? [glow=red,2,300] Yes this is foil no red[/glow] G Gold - has anybody ever seen G pearl/no foil? we have in B, why not G and S? [glow=red,2,300] Never seen it but it probably exists[/glow] FT1 First Firetiger - do all FT have orange belly? [glow=red,2,300] Haven't seen a FT with white belly but Jason might have?[/glow] S2 Old Silver All White Belly - this means no red anywhere - but why old? have seen lures from estonia like this. [glow=red,2,300] I call it "old" because it is missing the red painted gills of the newer models[/glow] FT2 2nd Generation Firetiger - is this with the big red gills? [glow=red,2,300] Yes FT2 is the most aggressive black lines with big red gills[/glow] T Brown Trout - should this be TR? [glow=red,2,300]I can't remember if these say T or TR[/glow] FT3 3rd Generation Firetiger - how does this look? [glow=red,2,300] Like the new HT pattern does. Simple black bars on the back a little bigger than the FT1 model[/glow] SFP Silver Fluorescent Pearl - is this the one i try to find in size 7? [glow=red,2,300] YES, Paint side versus the normal Foil[/glow] SSH2 Silver Shiner White Belly - anybody a pic please? [glow=red,2,300]This is the normal SSH pattern with a white belly, was one on ebay a while ago, sorry no pic from me[/glow] CSSH Chartreuse SSH - what the h... do you mean with this one?? [glow=red,2,300] This looks like silver shiner but the white parts are painted chartreuse. Never had one in hand but seen pictures [/glow] P3 Perch Foil White Belly - same as P1 with foil? [glow=red,2,300] Yes same as P1 but this is the Perch foil with a white belly instead of a bronze side with white belly[/glow]

Hi everybody.
thanks Shane for answering my questions.
i have one more: why you call the SFC pearl SFP, no silver on this anywhere. would it not be better to call it PFC = pearl fluorescent chartreuse because this is what it is?
this lure caused me more than two sleepless nights. i have the CDJ-11 SFC pearl here. and thanks to Jason who sent me a pic yesterday, i know it exists in size 7 ... slept much better this night.
i would have prefered to delete it from my list. cause if Jason get one for me guess what he wants to have for trade?
so with the list i made myself on CDJ colors and the one you put here, it seems we are closing up to 40 different lures.
and i really thought the CDJ-7 is close to finished, so i started this nice blue thing ...

LOL, "the nice blue thing" good luck with that I suppose we could call it PFC as easy as SFP. I guess the reason for SFP was so we would know its related to SFC. Obviously Rapala doesn't care to label all the color variations they make

Obviously Rapala doesn't care to label all the color variations they make I guess maybe the older SFC may have looked a little 'silver' - you know, the older SFC's where the paint almost has a 'flat' or non-glare quality to it? Those may be more along the the lines of the ones that came in those older boxes, like these maybe:
