Rapala VMC Corporation (Rapala) has announced today that effective from September 1, 2007, Shimano Europe Fishing Holding (Shimano) will take over as the distributor of Rapala’s Storm branded products in Italy, Germany and the Benelux.
Storm represents a wide range of hi-quality soft plastics and hard bait lures. It is among the top 5 selling lure brands worldwide with no less than 32 product families. Best known products are Thundersticks, Chug Bug and Wild Eye Minnow hard baits, Wild Eye Swim Shads soft plastics and Thunder Core hybrid lures.The Storm products are being manufactured in Finland, Estonia and China and are sold to over 100 countries worldwide.

Already in January, Rapala and Shimano strengthened their distribution alliance: Rapala’s Hungarian distribution company Rapala Eurohold Ltd in Budapest became the South East European distribution center selling both Rapala and Shimano fishing tackle to Hungary, Rumania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia and Albania. Already before 2007, Rapala distributed Shimano products to South Africa and 12 countries in Europe. Shimano distributes Rapala products to 4 countries in Europe.
