A few of you are aware of the current events that I've been going through,
dealing with my Mom's breast cancer and everything else that goes with that deal.
Well, about 2 weeks ago, The company I work for, Darden
(red lobster, olive garden, smokey bones)
Came in and announced that 56 stores were going to be closed in the smokey bones chain and that the rest
about 70 ish stores are going up for sale.
Oh, at least they gave a 12 hour notice of the closings
The Smokey Bones I'm in,
wasn't closed..
However, it does make for an interesting change of mood
in the store.
We lost 7 cooks in the next 3 days after the announcement.
I did a little quick planning and decided that
I'm not going to miss the Spring annual fishing trip
(I had planned on not going)
It would have been the first trip I missed in about 20 something years.
With everything that has been going on, both at the home front and the work place.
I informed my "Boss" that "we" had a couple of options.
Needless to say......
I'll be in the U.P. doing a little walleye, pike, musky, large & small mouth bass fishing.
Starting this upcoming holiday weekend for several days.
My "Boss" wasn't to happy about it.
But I informed them it could be longer if they really wanted to press the issue.
I had the "Boss" contact the home office and get me the form for the
Family leave act.
My "boss" wasn't that up on this form and when SHE found out that I could take 12 FRIGGIN WEEKS OFF.
The days I wanted were no problem.
