Hi Steve.
i am far from expert on these, just happened to get in a bunch of them from japan recently. the most obvious difference is the lip. on CDFS it looks like on the TEAM ESKO. thats why i got interested in them in the first place.
besides that, they come in some crazy colors.
they seem to be much heavier than a normal CD. and thats why they are faster sinking i guess. although this looks like a disadvantage to me cause they will not react as good to the line pull; but thats just theory, i never tried one ...
since they are without box, i am going to weigh them and give you the numbers tomorrow.

Hi Steve.
i checked the size 7:
CD 8g 1/4 oz CDFS 10g 3/8 oz (thats what the box says)
my scales are showing a little different weight, the CD7 was a little over 7 and the CDFS7 more around 9 gram.
but the feel of them in my hand it seemed to be much more difference ...

Hi Wolfgang, Thanks for the info It seems that the countdown models of Rapala's get all the crazy colors Why couldn't they put some of these colors on the F-18 that would be sweet ;D Steve

The CDFS Rapala"s Is just another pretty lure, I has no fish apeal at all, I fish a hydro eletric power plant with three turbines, I always fished the CD09 Rapalas for big brown trout,I saw the CDFS and ordered some from Japan, I started to fish with them, Guess what? Waste of time, So i put on a CD09 started catching fish right off, My guess is they were just to heavy Or the colors just were not right, They look nice but don"t catch trout, I can name a whole list of Rapalas that don"t work there, But it is much easer to say what does, CD09-F-13- Silver/Black. Smelt look alikes,

Hey Trouttracker, I also fish near a hydro-electric dam, only for walleyes though for brown's we fish out in the Bay of Green Bay in spring right after ice out.The F-9,F11,& F13 in Blue,Silver, and Gold are the best with an oddball color taking a few.The trout follow the schools of spawning smelt into the shallows 3 to 8 feet.Flatlining the Rapala's mentioned above are killer. The only bad thing about this is the Pike and Muskie are there too and once they hit its bye-bye Rapala ( This past spring I was using the little yellow planer boards(can't remember the name of them) and a damn Muskie decided it was breakfest and tore the crap out of it and got my Rapala as well We are getting some GIANT Muskie up here so these are easy pickens. This past summer a local angler was reeling in a 17 in Walleye and a huge muskie came and stole it right of his lure

Sounds like one hell of a place to fish, So do you think it would be worth a shot for me to try the blue/silver F13 up this way on browns, I have all kinds of blue silver floaters and never gave it much thought, Almost everything I read about smelt look a likes are silver/white a light green back, Rapala does not make them in the F9-11-13, Wish they would, It is much diffent where i fish, The smelt come down though the hydro from the upper dam, the browns are there feeding on them, there very picky on what they eat, this lake has browns/rainbows/brookies,salmon, bass a few, perch, Some bait fish not much, They really do most of there feeding when they are generation power, Matter of fact the Vermont State Record Brown Trout came out of there, 22.5 lbs, I have caught browns from ten inches to nineteen pounds, I let them all go arter a quick pic, If i get one over 22.5lbs I will keep that one,

I would definatly give the Blue/Silver a try. They may not care for it,but they may also kill it. Yes the area where I live in the past few years the fishing has exploded. ;D In the past 2 years both the Cabela's MWC and the FLW Tour have had Walleye tournaments here in Menominee,MI, and the guys love it here.Alot of them come 2 weeks before the tourney starts just to fish. Also a tip for you if you have problems with the trout nipping at the bait run a small stinger hook off the back of the Rapala.I have used this with great success. The trout will follow the bait like a Pike and nip at the back of the lure resulting in a lot of lost fish.Dosen't affect the action of the lure either. p.s. If your ever in this neck of the woods we will have to go fishing
