Nice pic"s, It has to be a screwup, The one on the right looks like a lip that belongs on a CD-11, Maybe a third party put it on there, Maybe Rapala was trying to get the CD07 down deeper, Maybe we will never know, Never seen anything like it, Put it away,

That silver one has CD-5's lip.And looks (in that front picture) that it is not assembled in factory.Replaced afterwards IMO. Better picture and I can say it for sure.

Steve, I could have been a third partys handy wood, I have bought some custon CD09"s that had differnt color lips, The seller said he put them on the Rapala, And you can not tell it was changed at all, I will stand by what i said, It looks like a CD-11- Lip,

Hi Mike,
Either way it doesn't really matter to me.It makes a good conversation piece. Its possible the original lip came out and someone put this one in place instead of tossing the lure,or it could be a Rapala mistake. Thanks for your input on this it gets the wheels turning!!

Hi Guys.
i am not sure about this, but isnt all rapala lips glued afterwards?
i had here 2 or 3 of these boards showing the different steps in production of a CD-9 G. the paint is added, the slit is cut out, and the bill is glued in. you can see this on almost any older rapala. H13 SSR14 MAGs, there is some residual glue around the diving lip.
BTW, the eyelets for attaching the hooks are all full of paint and cleaned out to finish the lure.
what i want to say is, IMO, the lips on these CDs are original factory.

To add to Wolfgang's thoughts I paint alot of different Rapala baits and on almost everyone especially on the DT crankbait and SSR-14's there is a lot of residule glue around the diving lips.Alot of times it is so bad that I have to wet sand it off before painting. So if someone did glue a different lip on this lure they did a hell of a job.Look at some of your factory Rapala's and see for yourself .

Well then if it is a factory job, Maybe the worker that put it together that way just to be a little differnt, Maybe he ran out of the right lips and did not want to get out of his chair, or he just wanted to shake up the Rapala collectors, But any how someone put it the for a reason,

I think someone wanted to try to make the lure run deeper. I don't believe this is a factory error at all.

Hello Everyone, I just wanted to add one more thig to this thread, We as Rapala fisherman/Collectors, We are always looking for something a little differnt, Whats going to stop some wisr guy out there, (Not talking about anyone on this message board) But there has to be some people out there that know they can make a quick buck if they make some changes on a rapala, If your good with your hands i am sure you can change some lips out on most rapalas to make it look like it came from the factory, Then stick them on Ebay and it get all the colectors looking and wondering if its the real deal, You all know as well as i do something a little odd in a rapala gets us all going, Please keep in mind I am not talking about the CD07 on this theard, I looks like the real deal, But i have to wonder myself? ?

About these lures I could care less if its a factory mistake or the previous owner changed the lip which most think happened anyway. These are going to be repainted and used for fishing.
