well, i added to me gear a little today, happened to stop by st croix rod factory today, ended up buying several rods for the soon to be open shop, but while searching though the factory second Mojo Bass rods i found a gem. at st croix, they sell factory seconds at basiclly half price, but most of the time, to be a second, they only have minor flaws, maybe a scratch, sometimes its a blank thats not totally straight, or maybe a hook keeper wasnt put on, and for that, they drop the price 50%. they also put used rods on the rack as seconds, a nice used st croix(non second) can be traded up to a new rod of a higher quality, so if you take out that new mojo bass and decide after a trip or two you really should have paid the extra $50 for an avid, you can do it. and then lucky fisherman like me can get a brand new $100 Mojo bass rod with slightly dirty cork grips for $50, but who knows who might have owned it before you, right??? well that might have been the case, but the previous owner had taken the liberty to sign the front cork grip, non other then st croix pro staffer fishing god, Joe Bucher. i just about crapped myself when i saw it, went down the aisle twice checking every other rod for a similar autograph, but it was the only one. Also had to get the wife a couple of pink and purple rods, she was demanding these rods after i broke her last st croix, she figures that if she has girly rods, i wont use them, but in a pinch, you never know. but had a great anniversary weekend as a family, great buy on a great rod, all is good. now i just need to get a few more abu revo reels to put on my mojos.

I returned my Basspro Bionic Blade last week and ordered a new shimano compre to replace it. The bionic blade is good, but not as good as the shimano.

Thats a hard one to answer because I have about 20 different rod/reel combos. funny, I use mostly one type of rod. I am such a guy you can find with the same old rod at any swim.

5 berkeley lightning rods (had one more than doubled over and didn't break.) coupla other medium rods...6.5 all stars and a pflueger 7foot. coupla 6 footers from local academy store h2o express rods.
okuma inspira reel half price! buncha okuma stinson 40 and 30. coupla shimano sahara, but i prefer okuma. 1 pflueger reel that came as a combo with the rod. it's on a berkeley rod now.
plano bag. soft bottom is blue. beige top is hard plastic with clear top. great bag. can hold 7 boxes of lures. i throw in 6 and leave space for tools, glove, bags of swim baits. why i take that much stuff is beyond me. but i do! most is rapala... 25 cranks 6-14 feet 20 sinking 11 smaller sebile 16 cranks 1-5 feet 9 sebile larger lures 30 sebile soft swimbaits with the weight system.
over 100 lures in the bag! how focused is that? never know when i'll need 'em, so i take all of 'em! plus the 10 combo's, all spinning, are loaded with lures for every situation. and 20 columbia fishing shirts... somebody stop me!
