I went fishing yesterday evening and was using a CD1. A couple of times the split ring on the nose somehow got hooked up on itself instead of being free. The result was a spinning CD1 and nasty twisted line which eventually developed into a knotted loop about 4 meters from the lure. I want to remove the split ring and tie directly to the nose ring. I know that this will probably upset the delicate balance of the CD1 but since I was missing fish yesterday because of the treble being a bit too big for them (see pic below), I want to switch to a smaller size treble. What do you all think? Small mouth - large treble!See what I mean? I know they are only small fish but they are fun to catch - will a smaller treble be too small for his bigger brothers?

change the treble to suit the conditions, i often use very small trebles for salmon in low water conditions with out any issues, they can often hook better as they cant get the leverage to shake it off,

I've taken the split ring off of many of my raps without changing the action of the lure. And I'm sure changing the trebles will not throw the balance off too much either. And if you get quality trebles, you will definitely still be able to catch larger fish with it. As long as you get a good set into a lip, the size of the hook will not matter too much.

i'm no expert, but changing the size of the hooks on my lures has never affected them before, and in fact, i would have thought putting SMALLER hooks on will actually improve its action rather than spoil it.
