After discovering that my tip line guide was badly scored I figured I had better replace my reel line mighty soon. I checked on our local online tackle shop and came across a good looking line (we don't have much of a choice here in Israel). I did some homework on it and eventually phoned the shop and asked them to ship it to me. Great service - it arrived 2 days after I phoned the shop! Anyway, the line in question is Awa-Shima Ion Power Professional Flourine. You can read the specs here: Ion Power ISO Professional FluorineI loaded it on my reel and it feels silky smooth. I tied a few knots and they feel tight and strong. Anybody had any experience or heard anything about this line?

I shall have to wait for my next fishing trip - maybe next week. But I promise to let you know how it handles. I bought it specially as it is designed for saltwater.

I went fishing last evening and didn't catch anything But, the new Awa-Shima Ion Power Professional Fluorine line is really nice. It has zero memory and casts nice - even into the wind (fixed spool - spinning reel). The breaking strain 2 line thickness is really quite impressive -- 0.30mm = 11.950 Kgs (about 26lbs). Compare that to Berkley Trilene Maxx which for a dia. of 0.30mm = 10lbs! I have actually yet to catch something on it so can't say much about its fish fighting properties but so far I am impressed with it and would recommend it to others.

awashima is a good brand, their line is quite good and works well
nigel, awa shima uses the european way for measuring breaking strenght, while trilene uses the us method. both are good lines, if someone has a machine for traction tests, i think both the lines would have good results
