Folks, Joe from www.joescustombaits.com asked me to come up with a pattern/name for this bait. Any ideas? If he happens to pick a name that you folks come up with, that person will get a a free Joe's Custom Baits Rapala! (selected by me)

I haven't forwarded any of these to JCB yet, but I do know, based on how his other patterns are named - that using the words Gill, Bream, Sunfish, will definitely help. For example, some of the ones I came up with were: Cobalt Bream Sapphire Gill Blue Steel Sunfish

I've always called most panfish (except crappie) bream... I think they have a bream oversea's that look's like a huge humpback shiner.

I know Joe has been super super busy this year, with getting up a new site, and his 'real job' taking up a lot of his free time. When the dust settles he hope to have him here as a regular, with his own sponsor board...and yes, I do plan on sending him crankbaits to paint!

According to Wikipedia, bream is a general term for certain species of freshwater fish, which tend to be narrow and deepbodied . Learn something new every day!!!

Well I know this was short-lived - but Joe did confide in me that he did like 'Watermelon Gill' the most, so it looks like I owe Barry a Joe's Custom Bait...well done!

Just noticed this!!! Cool deal. Are sponser's allowed to win? If not just throw it in the pot for other contest. I've been a fan of Joe's for quit a while now and he does some great work. His crappie is out of this world. Dont think I can even get the spot's down like he does...!
