i have always been a believer that colour is of no importance on a surface lure as a fish just sees a silhouette of the lure when it looks up from below. While on holiday, in the pool, i was shocked at how easily different colours could be seen above on OVERCAST days, on sunny days, everything was just a silhouette, but it will definately make me pay more attention to colours on surface lures in the future. What do you guys think?

Actually, i have a question regarding colours on skitterpops. In a colour booklet that came inside the box of my CD-7 CLN SS MAG, it shows the skitterpop in a colour it calls "HCL", which looks like clown, but with flames on its head, so i have asumed this colour is called hot clown. This lure was also used on the rapala how to video for the skitterpop. I have not seen this lure anywhere, is it a rare lure? If so, how rare? How much would i have to pay for a 7cm SP in this colour?

Hot Clown (which is basically just a Clown color) only came on the Skitter Pop and has been discontinued. However it must be a great fish catcher because they are always in demand on ebay, usually averaging at least double or more it's original cost.
And lure color makes a huge difference on overcast cast vs sunny days. I think the rule is dark bottom/dark lures on sunny days and bright bottom/bright lures on overcast days. It's all about contrast..

That probably explains things -- all my topwater baits are light colored on the bottom - and during the summer (end of April 'til beginning of October) we don't have overcast days I was just looking through my Rapalas and took out an LC12 in Hot Pink. Figuring that the LC's swim real shallow and that the target fish will be underneath, I took a black permanent marker pen and colored the pink underside black. I now have a black bellied hot pink LC12 -- should work great on our sunny mornings As a side note, marker pen colors can be removed quite successfully with alcohol and cotton wool. This brings me to thinking that taking a few different colored marker pens, some alcohol and cotton wool, on a fishing trip and one should be able to quickly make color changes to ones lures to suit any given situation.

I think this is probably because it was the one used on the "how to" video, so people will buy the colour they have seen works well, rather than chancing it and buying a less effective colour. To be honest, i think its more of a confidence thing though...

I notice that you are using a swivel snap clip -- doesn't the extra weight affect the lures performance? (I suppose not since you are catching fish....).
