Well Ted, thats half true. I met the guy (Alex) on a trade show 3-4 yrs ago who is the inventor an designer of this lures. Formerly the guy made wobblers for Ugly Duckling, but it comes to a break (Ugly Duckling, Alex and Mosa I believe), so he starts to built his own lures. They were produced in a formerly republic of Yugoslavia, Serbia I believe and were made from impregnated balsa wood in special an difficult vacuum process and got a durable cast lexan lip. I've seen some 2 and 3 piece hand painted protos up to a length of 6-7inch, but he wouldn't sell or give away. First the both types Goodie & Ruff Guy were sold here rarely in Europe too, but after the success in north America, they get their new own European style names. Check out: www.alexlures.com/I have a couple of the 1st editions in the old styled boxes for trout fishing. Very neat paint job and printing. IMHO. Dave's Lures is only the distributor for North America.

Wow, that's good stuff - and great looking baits too!
We need to make a gigantic list of lure links so we can all keep track of all of these..

ugly duckling are quite easy to find around here, but not cheap. they cost even more than rapalas.
btw, in serbia and other nations there are a lot of small lure makers, usually craftsmen.

i stumbled onto a bunch of ugly duckling lures several years ago, a store had a box of them for $2 each, must have been a couple hundred of them in there, their out of business now, but i dont know if they ever sold that box or not, every time i was in there that box looked just as full as ever, couldnt give the things away. havnt seen much for ducklings before or since.
