At the present day I own about 80?
Throughout my life I've owned probably 250. My dad owns 50 or so.
There was a time in my life where I was desperate for money, and I sold all my Lucky Craft and Rapala.

My modest collection is about 50 lures.. mostly J-11's any other lure is pure for fishing purposes I do not collect to collect. I buy lures to catch fish Only the J-11's are for collecting wich some of em are to be used. those I have double

There was a time in my life where I was desperate for money, and I sold all my Lucky Craft and Rapala. I've been there my friend. It sucks...but life is generally cyclical, it all eventually turns around. Good thing they hold their value well, even when used...

Very late reply,
But yes, I've heard people say "a rapala lure is an investment" which is quite true. Fishing lures in general usually go up in value over time. I can't think of one single lure that if you bought it in the 80-90's and kept it in the box, that would not be as valuable or more valuable today.
But yeah, I got in a bad way when I was younger with some bad people and an even worse girl. Long story short, I had to have cash on the spot to support myself, sold all my lures for 1/2 what they were worth. But....... that is what led me here and to collecting lures. When I straightened myself out, I decided I wanted a big a## tacklebox again, I'll never get all my old plugs back that took me ten years to get, but I've got some pretty cool stuff now. Lol
Really thankful for this site and everybody who makes it great. I've learned sooooo much here lately.

I have too many!!! The bug hit me and I was off. I wish I would have taken sometime to think about what I really wanted. Maybe put more money into custom painted lures. Now I'm more selective about what I buy. I also started selling them as I would love to trim down my collection. I just cannot seem lose them like everyone else. I still have the first one I purchased. Perhaps my trip to the BWCA will result in some lost lures this year? This all being said I have nothing compared to the members here.
