Hey guys i was wondering a few things about the Risto Rap. First thing is how much do you think they are worth now that they are discontinued. At this little tackle shop about 20 miles from my house there was a rack of rapalas 50% off! My sole purpose of going there was to see if they had any risto raps that i could add to my collection, and wouldnt you know it, they were on the 50% off rack, and were marked down to $2.50. I was pretty sure this was a good bargain, so i grapped a couple, and some other small countdowns for river fishing. Another question i wanted to ask was why they discontinued this line of lures. I see them in old bass magazines and books, and it seemed a lot of people used them, so why stop production?

Hey, Well the only people who could tell you why there were discontinued are the folks at Rapala I guess. My guess is that they werent selling too well. and/or decided to replace them with a future lure down the road, possibly with the DT's? Which may also be why the discontinued the Fat Raps - well, all of the good ones anyway. A real head-scratcher. But my advice to you would be to grab as many as you can, while you can. In particulre if you can find the small size 4's, those seem to be especially tough. Grab as many of those as you can, then sell off the excess on ebay. Just my humble opinion...

Nathen, I believe the Risto Raps were discontinued because the larger sizes 7,8,9cm didn't always run true in the water. Rapala basically wasn't happy with the lack of consistant performance. The smaller sizes didn't suffer from this and they are more highly sought after. I am currently looking for some risto raps so if you want to do some trading email me.

I am pretty sure that the 50% off rack only has around 2 #7 Risto Raps left now , But they have every single discontinued color of fat raps there, but they are not on the 50% off rack, should i get some of these, and which colors would be the best for collecting. P.S. im on a budget! all the fat raps are around $7 there

Which Fat Raps? Rattlin Fat Raps? Or the regular ole Fat Raps?
First off, if they have Shallow Fat Raps, grab them all. Secondly, Ive seen that Gold, SFR, GFC, & Shad are always tough. Do a recon mission and see that they've got, then report back....LOL..
Oh, and if you see B (Blue) Fat Raps - very tough, get them all...LOL.

What! there is a difference between the fat rap and the rattling fat rap So are the normal fat raps worth more or what? Also are the Gold, SFR, GFC and shad colors for the shallow fat rap, or the normal ones? I'll try to go back as soon as i can.

The rattlin fat raps are made of plastic with the hollowed body cavity for the rattles, the regular fat raps are all balsa. Those colors you mentioned are for the shallow fat raps and the balsa ones...
