Anybody besides me still fish with these? I on a couple of smallmouth sites and invariably everyone starts talking about Lucky Craft when minnow baits are mentioned. Whatever, give me some suspend-a-dots and I can use a J-9 for everything from bottom bouncing to topwater and I catch fish on them every month of the year. It is the most versatile lure in my tacklebox.

i have never had much luck on the j series, but thats just me i guess, i know they are always a good seller around here. but i have always liked the suspen-dots and suspend-strips. i knew a place that had a ton of these after the storm sell off, wish i had bought them all. still have some, but no where near enough. welcome to the site. bacon

I done better with rapala then those, they look nice but never caught one fish on them.

I have tons of J-9's and have have great success with most colors. Definitely something I have confidence in using when fishing shallow water.

I done better with rapala then those, they look nice but never caught one fish on them. No kidding. They are THE LURE for matching the hatch down here on the rivers of Va, IMO. I've got every pattern under the sun, but I stick to five basic colors......silver/black, gold/black, blue/silver, rainbow trout and brook trout. I love how subtle they are and the fact that they are solid balsa......no rattles. I've been experimenting with suspend-a-dots to make suspend and have had excellent results. A new trick I learned is to cast one into deep water riffles, reel it down to depth and then just let it drift with the current. While its drifting the tail will shimmy with the current and smallmouth cant resist. I also like to wake em across calm pools and under shoreline cover in fairly shallow water. I've caught fish on them every month except Dec and Jan and if everything goes as planned I'll be able to check those off this winter.

One of my most used lures, J9, silver/black. Having good luck lately with bleeding olive shad on smbass!!! That is one I will surely be picking up!! I have a few other lures in BOS and have been very successful with them. Out of the entire bleeding series, I think BOS is the best by far. Not that I've actually fished them all yet, but just my opinion as of now.

Silver and Black, Perch, and Firetiger all work well in northern WI, Hayward/Cable area waters.

Silver/black works everywhere. I went wading on the James River about a month ago on a dreary misty day. Was wading the backside of an island in a narrow channel using a J-9 in Brook Trout..........waking it real slow on top. Had a bite on almost every cast. Landed 22 or so and missed at least that many. Mixed bag of redeye, smallmouth and fallfish, with the biggest smallie going about 17.5". Only got to fish about 2.5 hrs because it started RAINING and I had to get back across the river before I got stranded.
