I wanted to make my father something to hang on the wall for his birthday last year. I got the idea to make a shadowbox with one of my custom painted cranks in it. I found a good underwater pic. Pasted it in the back and added a little 3d effect. Came out ok for my first attempt! Next time I'll use glossy photopaper for the background and not set the hook's with superglue . What do you think of the idea though...?

Thank you ! and thank you Ted for the avatar.. That does look pretty cool, and that gives me an idea - If you can find pieces of driftwood with one flat side, you can mount the bait with a screw (somehow) to make it stick out in front of the driftwood, without making it look like it was attached to it. Plus it would it it that 3D effect, and maybe you might be able to glue the treble in position so it looks like it is trailing behind it (instead of hanging down) so it would look like a crank getting ripped through the water.... I see a lot of cool potential there....

I see a lot of cool potential there.... To "make it stick out in front of the driftwood" you just need small spacers behind the lure (on the screws). Another idea is to take the larger Rapalas - like the Glidin' Rap and make 'Door Knockers' out of them (without the trebles ). Nigel

i used a risto rap 7 to make a lamp cord pull, didnt work too bad, but it was hard to keep it together. i have thought of doing that with the super shads or such, and using them for door pulls or beer tappers once i get the bar done. you dont need spacers either for mounting, just need to thread the holes so you can screw in small bolts, then just thread them into the board, then though as far as you need your space, then into the lure.
