Those are so cool! Are they homemade, or are they produced by Rapala for some advertising purposes? I have never seen them here in the States. Is it unique to the European market?

Rapala boards are something I have never seen, but they are awesome because they would be way easier to display than rapalas in boxes!

WOW!!! I thought I had a good collection of Rapala boards with a total of 8 boards. I have been humbled in a big way. I am also very envious. Fantastic collection. Thank you for sharing it with us!

hi folks,
thanks for feedback. If I can get some more boards I`ll present them here. But it will surely take some time, because they are hard to find here in germany too because they are usually not for sale.
Rocfish: these are all original Rapala boards. not handmade. they are dedicated for tackle shops/dealers/buisinessmen. hard to get because nearly noone wants to let them go out of his store.

Today I whas in a store in the netherlands and saw two old boards with rapala lures on it. I asked how much they would cost. About 150 euros. Is that cheap or exspensive Carsten? What does ost of your boards costs?

What does ost of your boards costs? i have 8 or 9 boards and they are hard to find here in england you just have to take them as you find them, i paid £100 or more for the vibrax or husky one but i did get a couple for £40, they are like looking for rocking horse s--t

well,
i had here maybe 20 or maybe 30 of these, most went to the states or to Carsten; but before you ask why would somebody let these beauties go, i have to tell you i am not allowed to hang anything fishy on the walls outside my fishing tackle room ...
since these are not sold anywhere, it is hard to give a price; and since they are not available in the states, the price usually is in EURO and not in US$.
most of these i have bought from ebay or tradera, some where coming from tackle shops. and most i have passed on for what i paid for. or i traded for rapala. some time ago these were quite cheap to get. the smaller ones at around 50 euro, a big one with over 100 rapala on it sold for between 100 and 200 euro.
more recently, prices went up quite a bit, and i have seen the big ones selling on german ebay from between 300 to over 500 EURO (which is about $700).
as you can see in the pics above, the boards are coming with quite a few, like 7 or 9 or 12, up to around 20 to over 30 in the smaller version. the bigger ones which are really big, dont remember exact dimensions, but they were something like about 40x30 inch, are holding over 100 rapala.
some sellers here on ebay tell you you can remove the raps and use for fishing - this is not true! all lures are sanded on the back to give a flat spot to glue to the board. usually diving lips are affected too, so no way for anybody to make these into fishable lure again.
some months ago one guy was stupid enough to remove all the rapala from a board and sell them here in pairs for fishing - he said they just need a little attention and they will be as good as new ...
the best one i had so far was the RH board; i guess most of you know where this went to ...
this was quite a complicated deal to get it here from italy, the seller listed it with ITALY shipping only; it did not sell. so i asked him to re-list with shipping to europe, and he did. i bought it, but he said he can think of no way to send this big thing to germany. so an old friend from my time in stockholm got involved, he is from sicily and helped me to explain the seller how to do it. then it took several more weeks cause the seller went to hospital, but it arrived finally.
i had it here for almost a year; i had promised to send on, but it was so beautiful ... well, i am quite happy with its new home in colorado as a center piece of a great redhead collection.
and with more and more people wanting to have such a thing, and no real supply from anywhere - remember, you can not just go in a shop and buy one, just as Mark said, these are not easy to find - i guess prices will continue to go up.
right now, the smaller ones with about 20 to 30 rapala are around $100, the big ones are $300, at least. if you think about it from a collectors point of view, $3-4 each is not a bad price; if you think about it from a fishermans view, about $3 for an unfishable lure is too much ...
best, wolfgang

o.k. Wolfgang, next time I`ll try but you surely know that my collections are really small compared with the ones of some other members here on this board.
Hi "fireman 1979". the cost of such a board depends on how many lures are glued on. With a little bit luck you can get a little board with 10-25 lures on for 60-70 €. Depends on the models/types of Rapala which are glued on too. If you get one ! You can`t usually buy them in a tackle shop. Mostly you have to go in touch with a buisinessman who owns a fishing store and then you have to persuade him to sell it. Not very easy. The greater boards with 100-140 lures on are much more expensive. Here in Germany some were sold on ebay for more than 500 €. So, if you can get some of these greater displays for 150 €, you have to buy them because this would be a fair price. But too much for a small board. But before buying take a closer look at the colours of the lures. Mostly they are faded and washed out from the UV rays. These boards are trash.
best regards Carsten
