Since this Sufix 832 is expensive stuff, what are you guy's take on only buying a 150yd spool and using a mono backing? I got to thinking that fishing from the shore with a maximum 50m cast, I'm never going to hit the backing - so forking out for a 300yd spool only seems to be a real waste of money.

that is a good idea, its always a good idea to have a mono(type) backing, better casting on a full spool to boot since even a whole 300 yards is not enough to fill a large spool correctly when you figure the small diameter of lighter braids. plus the savings would be nice too.

I went with the 10 lb test with 30 lb backing, both 832. I filled my spare spool with 150 of the 10 lb and then filled the spool with the 30lb ( 30 has a way bigger diam. Of course), then I removed my spare spool, put on my other spool, connected the 30 lb to it, worked perfectly. I also picked up some sufix fluoro leader.
