Checked the weather site and wave height site a few days before and booked a day off work. The weather, albeit a bit cold before sunrise, was going to be great...... The afternoon before my day off (I have to book it a couple of days in advance) I checked the weather sites again and -- what's this? Somebody got things wrong surely -- 2.5 - 3.5m waves!! Too late to change my plans and so I went anyway. Got there whilst it was still dark and just sat there for about 10 minutes in disbelief at the waves crashing over the small breakwater. What do I do? Took a day off work; spent 3/4 hour getting here just to go home again because the sea was rough? No way! I pulled on some lightweight waders, pulled my woolly hat down and headed out to the breakwater to a spot on the inside, but near the end, where I could see that the waves were only just getting to. Didn't catch anything but did get some good photos: I did enjoy the day -- the sound of the waves roaring and crashing against the rocks was far better than a day in work
