Hi Ryan and John, and others.
yes, i think one is a blue firetiger, seems to be a special, but the fat rap, or RFR is not. sorry to disappoint you. and why should this be. please look at the eyes; on the fat rap the eyes are faded yellow too, while the special has the yellow eyes (although the pic is not good enough to really know these have not been re-painted). well, i dont want to accuse anybody of anything i can not prove, so i had been planning for a long time to do this experiment, and it seems it is time now to start.
i just have to ask my boss if i can use the UV lamp.
or is somebody out there going to get sun tan regularly? just take a FT with you and expose it to the UV light. dont forget to take out of the box and remove the hooks. otherwise this might be a nice hook up to get girls talking to you. although they sure will think you are crazy. but we all knew this already ...

The eyes look faded yellow in the picture, but I was talking to Ryan, and he said that the eyes were actually white and not faded yellow. I think it is a special blue firetiger. Nice find

Yup, I really do think it is blue with white eyes. Either way, it'll look great right next to my green firetiger in my collection.

I'm not sure, it takes a lot to bleach a rapala. In the tackle shop in Spain that i go to, they keep all their rapalas by the window in almost direct mediterranean sunlight, the boxes the lures are in get really bleached because hardly anyone buys the rapalas so the majority of them are old stock (some must be over 10 years old), and yet none of the rapala lures themselves have any colouration defects or show any sign of bleaching. If the blue firetigers are actually standard firetigers bleached by the sun then they must be really old and left outside or atleast in direct sunlight 24/7. In my opinion it is most likely that they are not bleached, and instead they are actually painted that way. Having said that, if you look at the eyes on the 2 lures, the ones on the blue firetiger do look very pale
