Kicking myself! Was sitting on the couch last night with my smart-phone, waiting and watching an ebay auction that was scheduled to end at 11:45p.m. And, dammit I fell asleep and missed it! Does anyone have, or know where I can get an X-Rap 8 TBRB (Tropical Blue Rasbora)? The auction was from Malaysia, and claimed to be a special run color. Thanks to anyone that can help.

Seller was "hybridlycan", checked his other items and he doesn't have another listed.

Keep looking around they will most likely crop up again.
At one point we had a brief stint where all of a sudden we had a ton of Malaysian users signed up here, but I haven't really seen them since.
You could try making a post on our Facebook page too that might help...

Just ask him. He will most likely sell you one if he has another.

Finally won the Malaysian Specials in an ebay bid. Hope they arrive safely! Coming form S.E. Asia. Unfortunately, it was also the beginning of the "Rapala Flu" taking a hold of me. I figured if I got these special 4 on the way, then maybe I could collect ALL the Xrap08 models. I think it shouldn't be that daunting a task. The Rapala USA website shows just 19 versions, and I already have won two more ebay lots (4 each), so I just need to get 11 more of the colors offered in America, and I've only seen 1 or 2 other foreign/special colors besides the Malaysian specials (which I should be receiving shortly) Problem is, now I'm officially a collector. Up until now, the 200 or so Rapalas I own have all been taken out of the boxes and used for actual fishing. What have I got myself into...

Seller was "hybridlycan", checked his other items and he doesn't have another listed. I saw he had been relisting them quite a bit as of late. The only other special color I had seen was a RH model....then again check to see if you have the US Goby color as well. Also are you factoring in the Australian Floating X-Raps too? Yes, what have you gotten yourself into....

Also keep in mind that some newer model lures like the X-Rap may quietly discontinue a color and it seems that it is not noticed or missed by many, so you have to be dilligent...

Well, just a heads up,the same seller as you mentioned before in this post has the redhead on e-bay now. There are quite a few more than the 19 you referred to though. There are 8 sureset models on the rapala usa site, and also these from Japan: AYU, BSRD, CG, RH, SPM, CBPK, CSPM, CSRD, CSRR, PCD. Also there was a Goby, that I think was a Dick's Sporing Goods exclusive. It looks just like the muddler patterns. I'll post a pic of it because I actually have that one. I am far from an expert so I'm willing to bet there are a few more that I don't know of too!! Good luck hunting!!!!

Actually on the Rapala World site, they have the lure shown as being Muddler, but I am positive it said Goby on the box when I bought it.

Yeah, I think I only want to get any different color I see in the one size, XRap08. For example, I know there is a saltwater line with a few unique patterns (sardine, mackeral, etc.) but the others like silver & black that is a crossover from the freshwater line I'm not going to bother with. So, that should take care of most of the sureset line as well, as I think most are familiar patterns with different hooks. And identical patterns marketed under different box names (goby vs. muddler) won't be pursued either. But, I will be checking ebay and other website avenues for any unique foreign patterns. If I limit myself in this way I should make my collection venture achievable, and get a nice display out of it, which is what I'm striving for.

That's how I started out. I was positive that I would ONLY collect SR-5 Shad Raps...I think I went a little off the path. Good luck -Ryan

Just got the "malaysian special" colors in the mail yesterday from the overseas ebayer. They are too cool! Now I'm waiting on the red head that I won from the same seller. Anyone have a line on stores selling the colors available here in the states at a discount? I won a few ebay auctions where I was able to get a couple small lots of different colors that worked out to about $5-6 a lure. I'm just not ready to shell out the $8 a lure for the common colors at the stores just yet.

The Malaysian Specials were produced as Rapala Malaysia was organizing a lure coloring design competition. The designs were chosen based on 4 top Malaysian fishes. That's what I heard so far.

The XR8 Malaysian specials are available (USD$11) from a guy in Thailand at www.7seasproshop.com. He ships very fast, uses EMS, and shipping rates are reasonable. I have ordered from him several times with great success. He also has an assortment of other interesting Rapala stuff that is generally hard to find. Easy to spend a lot of money pretty fast there.

He doesn't seems to have the special XRAPS, but it's nice to see that the lures are cheap.
