I drive a diesel truck and it just boggles my mind why it is priced higher than premium gas. You may not drive a diesel, but everything you buy has been transported by diesel trucks. That is why the oil industry makes record profits. Now they are blaming the rising prices on what is going on in Libya. Libya only supplies 2% of the oil that the world consumes, so woudn't it be logical that the prices should only rise 2% I though price gouging was illegal in the US and yet the oil companies made record profits even during hurricane Katrina.

Its about $3.70 in the chicagoland area. If you ask me Libya has nothing to do with this. I think that as Americans we look at the uprising in the middle east and instantly think, o shit here go the gas prices, and companies such as Shell, BP, etc. know this. Gas prices seem to be going up every day, and those people who would usually only put $10 or $20 in their tank are now filling up because they arent sure if gas is going to go up another $.20 tomorrow. They are making 3 times the money now, and dont have to worry about the long term market because the demand will be even greater in the future. I think there will be a steady incline til about August then prices will drop out again. Just my $.02

No I don't have a diesel truck but like yourself can't figure out why diesel is more expensive then gas I always remember it being alot cheaper then gas. I also agree with ya that Libya has nothing to do with these prices.

This is madness - for some reason in the NorthEast it is always less, probably because of refineries being closer and also shipping ports too. Last time I looked it was 3.29...

This talk of 5.00 gas is starting to feel real. And its all because of 'speculation' - why? Because the Middle East is in unrest? When isn't it?
Anyway that is about as political as I want to get.
Anyone involved with the 'futures market' should be ashamed of themselves, there is zero accountability for what they do in their job. Just like meteorologists....

$3.55 a gallon in West Michigan. Just when the economy might think about turning around and the Rapala market picks up.....time to raise the price of gas and throw everything we gained back down the shitter!! There is a direct link between gas prices and the state of our economy. Just my opinion.

Paid $ 4.15 today for diesel . Its gone up about a 2 cents every day for the last two weeks. No sign of stopping either. I live 30 minutes from 3 or more refinery's . So shouldn't my fuel be cheaper And diesel is just a by product of gasoline. So there again. Shouldn't my fuel be cheaper . Makes no sense. Oh well bring it on . Could be worse. I think my buddy in Finland said its like 4 euros for a liter of gas there .

how about getting lost of the 6.0 8 cyl and start driving a smaller car? I do have a smaller car which I drive to work.Unfortunately it won't pull our boat Jason your right about diesel being a byproduct of gas which is why IMO its BS that is more then gas when it takes less to refine it. The oil companies know that almost all the goods in the US are distributed by trucks that use diesel so they raise the price of it to line their pockets. This is just my opinion and thats as far as I'll go on this subject.

Hey, try $1.53 a liter here in Tasmania, that equates to about $6.80 a gallon, what are you complaining about. The world knows that you "Yanks" use more gas than anyone else and pay less than most as well. Oil companies and governments all over are ripping us all off !!

UK is about £1.45/l or $2.30/l.
A US gallon is not the same as a UK gallon. US is 3.79l and UK is 4.55l.
So a US gallon at UK price would be about $6.40

Very soon we will drive electric cars ;D And we will plug these cars into outlets that draw electricity from coal power plants. This way we will save the environment in the process by burning coal instead of gas

The oil companies are getting sneaky to increase profits. The gap between gas and diesel is getting wider & wider. Gas around here is $3.29/gal. while diesel is $4.05. $.76/gal. more than regular gas. When they first blamed government regulation on the price increase on diesel that gap was only about .20 cents. I guess they are just going to keep increasing until the public squeels, then they will back it down to where it is quiet for awhile then march the price up again. The oil industry has not felt any pinch from a depressed economy. They continue to show record profits. I'll be really happy when an alternative economic fuel source becomes available. What does George Jetson use for fuel in his car?
