Carp on a lure.

I caught this Carp last week on a Spro Rapper Jerkbait.

Thought I had a monster pike but is was this falsly hooked Carp.

I had this happening to me once too.. they are so enormously strong when hooked in the back on a very light spinning rod..

i hooked into one on a 5' UL rod and a F5 rapala in gold/black....

talk about unexpected lol.

Here's my first ever foul hooked carp that I actually landed!!! For the few seconds before I realized it was a carp, I thought I had a monster pickerel. I knew it wasn't a bass, they don't make 'em that big around these parts!!!

I decided not to weigh it, because I have one of those scales with the hook hanging down that you hang the fish on. I wasn't sure if hanging a fish with that much weight on it may damage the fish, so I didn't try it. I think it was a little over ten pounds though, just going off of comparisons of some ten pounders I had weighed in the past!!

I caught a 20lb carp once on a booyah spinner. Going for bass. you never know what you'll get.

Did that last year myself, snagged a 20+ while fishing from my kayak. Talk about a Sleigh Ride.

I've had them eat Floating Rapalas, Jigging Spoons, Jigs. Carp are not only bottom feeders - they are also predators. I caught a huge carp on a spinner once and put it in my live well to show a friend later that day - what a mistake! It regurgitated both crawfish and Zebra muscles, took about an hour to clean it all up. Just think - they are a prized gamefish overseas! (Not saying anything derogatory - I have much respect for carp - in fact all fish!)
