Has anyone ever been fishing and caught a rapala? I know my cousin caught an F8 in perch down below my house while useing a spinnerbait over shallow rocks.

Yes I have- Once I was fishing Lower Twin Lakes in Ca. I was trolling an f-18 rainbow when I thought I got a good bite!! - i fought the fish but quickly realized it was a snag- i pulled on it as hard as I could when all the sudden it popped free- when it came up i had my f-18 plus another f-18 Gold and Orange- it looked like it had been there snagged for a decade or so...
I took it home custom painted it up and ran it- it has a better more wide wobble than the newer f18's- for a few trips I continued to catch fish with it-until I snagged and lost it out in Utah- hopefully one day it will happen to someone else!!

Never reeled in a rapala yet but had plenty of other lures when pulling in other folks line and snags. It always seems to be spinners i end up with though.

Well no....... I can't say I have.
But I've got another fish story. I was fishing a Jr. Bass tournament throwing a Carolina Rig. I made a long cast, but my reel got a little fuzzed up.... so I was picking it out and the line broke deep down in the spool. Well... I found where it broke and started pulling it in (because I didn't wanna lose my rig) I had a long way to go, and about halfway through me dragging my rig back I started thinking "I wonder what the hell I'm gonna do if a fish bites right now" sure enough.... about ten seconds later... I felt a "tick" and my rig being pulled away from me. So I did what anybody would do and wrapped the line around my hand and JERKED LIKE A SUM BEACH. hahaha. Five minutes later I had a 3 pound largemouth in the boat.

I saved the $20 panfish combo but ruined a $60 phone that was in my pocket

hahahaha. I laughed out loud when I read that. Yeah I think I ended up with some cuts after that. The funny thing was we had been dragging Carolina rigs for like 30 minutes on that spot and hadn't caught a thing until I hand-lined that one in.

I cast a little too close to a dock piling and after about ten minutes of tugging and pulling I dragged up a big clumb of oysters. Lodged in the oysters was a rattlin redhead. I chipped away the oysters and barnacles, changed out the rusty hooks and the next trip out I decided to use it. I promptly threw it right into an oyster bed and lost it.

i once caught a clam (freshwater) on a CDSR-5 RH, one cast after catching a good carp on it. had to use a hammer to get my hooks back, bad luck for the clam i guess. i once caught a husky jerk 12 tsd, i saw it floating in to shore were i was fishing, it would have gotten to me eventually, but i didnt want to wait, so i casted to it and reeled it in. thats the only lure i have ever caught, other then just wads of line and a hook.

I have actually caught a few - the one that sticks out in my mind though: I caught a "double rig" (two lures tied with one behind the other with @ three feet of line separating the two) in a river - one was an F-11 Red Clown. At the time - I had no idea what a Red Clown was - I just thought it was a custom painted Clown.
So I tied it on and caught some fish on it. Got back to the cabin - showed my buddies and one of them said "holy $#!* - that's a Red Clown!
Needless to say - I have been buying every one of them I come across - well - at least until the prices went crazy!

You'll know when you see one - he's usually holding a red beer! LOL JK
on a serious note - It looks just like a clown - only with a red back instead of yellow char.
My buddy just bought 4 of them, pulled them out of the boxes and mixed them into his "general population" - he at least kept the boxes! He did that same thing with an SB F-9 - WOW!

No such luck for me. The best thing I find is a bobber with a rusty hook and split shot. But you dont want to leave that in the lake. on a side note I have never lost a bait either. No snags or bit offs. But now that I say this I'm sure I will have my share this season.

It makes me sick to think about all the lures I have lost. And I don't let them go easy either, I've been swimming, up in trees, gone home to get the cordless saw, and spent hours "lure fishing". I have some old poppers I found that I use to try to catch my lures back. I tie on one to a rod with some strong braid and start casting at my lures. So I guess I have caught a Rapala instead of a fish a bunch of times. Only problem is that they were all my Rapalas to begin with!

Thats why I fish with 50lb braid I hardly ever lose a rapala, and usually i can break branches off or straighten the hooks out to the point where they come out

That's good to hear because a big ol' bass just stole my DT FAT 3 custom!! I know where I'll be fishing in two days!! Me and that fish have some issues to work out!! I thought I was mad last week when he just tossed it back at me but now I'm furious!!

Get them to the surface just in time to watch em throw that #12 Husky Jerk right back at me.

I don't know if this counts... Well, one time I whas fishing with my fishmate and we used the skitter pop to fish with. When he cast the lure into the water he found out that he didn't tied the knot well, so the lure went to cast away without the line. So I had to "pop" my skitter into the water to catch his lure (and it wasn't his, but mine). After a few times I got the lure back and he tied it again to his line. But what did he do again? You can guess... Same thing again. So another time no catching fish, but the lure. Some peope hahaha

I have caught and found many lures over the past few years. I have found one lake in particular which must have a large population of wealthy, careless fishermen because in the course on two days fishing I found five lures; three in the water, one just sitting on shore, and one in a tree within easy reach of the ground. One of these was even a new Clacking rap with sureset hooks! After ice-out on certain lakes and after the weeds have deteriorated I often find several lures an outing that I can snag on calm days. The most memorable lure I have caught would be when I hooked up with a small pike. While I was fighting it in it stopped abruptly and when I finally got it in I found that the pike had bitten onto a stick which had a lure imbedded in it!

Last spring I cast out an F-5 silver, before I shut my bail, the line started to scream out. I shut the bail, my line tightened and I realized I just snagged a duck out of a low flying flock. snap!!!! gone. Please send my lure back!!!
