Hey guys i just got my first TE-7 in G/RT nonetheless and i noticed that there was no split ring on the place where i tie the line to. I have noticed that some Raplas do and some dont. Since i have never fished an esko before i was wondering if it has better action with a split ring to tie to or directly to the lure? Going fishing for steelhead tomorrow and i want to get it wet. Any help is welcome thanks in advance

Keenan,
Tying directly to the bait with no split ring (unless you use a loop knot) will lessen the side-to-side roll of any bait - or in other words - soften the baits action. Using a split ring or a crank bait snap will give the bait more action.
Knot placement is also a factor - move it up around (up and down) when you go to chase steelies and watch the diferences - it's been so long since I looked - I can't remember - or maybe just old age settling in! LOL ;D
Good luck fishing - looking forward to hearing how you did! Looks like it will be a good weekend until the storms come in on Sunday! Fishing myself but hoping not to get too wet with the cold I have!

Hello everyone. I'd like to say I agree with HappyShad on his comment about the position of where line is tied to lures eye. I was fishing a Shallow Shad Rap with the line tied in the center position of the eye and the bite was hot. Suddnenly the fish stopped biting. I was going to change lures when I remembered reading article that line knot position affects a lures action. I moved knot to bottom of the line tie and it was "fish on" again. When bite stopped again I moved knot to top of the line tie. Worked like a charm again and avoided r tying several times!
I also have a question about Shallow Shad Raps and Team Esko lures. Are there any differences between them? Are they made of different materials? I have caught many fish on a crawdad/orange colored a Shallow Shap Rap but can't "buy" a fish on the Team Esko lure. I think it is in the Brook Trout pattern (can't find it at the moment) I received it with 4 other lures when I ordered a fishing DVD. Any helpful information would be appreciated. Tight lines and Thanks. Gonc
