Finding Old Rapala's

Wanted to know how many people still find Older Rapalas in Traditional locations like stores or bait shops? I dont collect but I like to find some of the older baits and have noticed that its not that easy to find them. I also wondered for those of you who collect when did you start. Were you buying these baits when they were still being sold as common currently manufactured items in stores, or after the fact. Last Question How long have you been collecting or looking for older lures?

it is hit or miss in ny alot of sport shops are going out of business so the mom and dad stores are far and few to find.but yes all most all the sport shops i stop at still have some old ones on the wall.

I have found a few with ristos, and only one with fat raps, I still find originals and magnums in finland/ireland versions once in a while but most of the business around here goes to gander mountain and scheels

I see a good number of Orginals, Husky Jerks, Countdowns, and a few shad raps myself. But none of the real exciting patterns. I do so tons of old F-18 but I Suspect its because no one uses them.

I find old and discontinued lures frequently - in fact - just found some holographic SR's and F's the other day - as well as some Glass FR's and two J-13 Clowns!!!!!!! Right now - stores up North that rotate their stock from Ice back to open water - set their summer stuff and in the process - come across old stuff they didn't know they had.

I started collecting fishing lures and memorabilia @ ten years ago - the Rapala thing started out of necessity for me - I still fish with a lot of the old and discontinued! (It really sucks to loose a clown or a red-clown though)

One of these days I will have to part with a few of my "stash" - but right now I'm in the hoarding stage! LOL
