I've had absolutely no success with the shallow X-rap shad (trolling or casting), and based on the other posts, I may not be alone.
Has anyone had any success with the deeper running X-Rap shads? If so, what were the circumstances/species? Cabelas.com has their complete stock of size 8 online for 3.99, and I was thinking of giving them a shot.

I've not done any good with the shallow X-rap either. There were a school of largemouth that chased a pod of baitfish into a real narrow cove the other day and I thought that would be a good time to use mine..... I gave it a few casts right into where the fish were busting the water..... and nothing.
So I tied on a regular shallow shad rap 5 in silver and proceeded to wax their asses, lol.
But my opinion on the X-Rap deep shad is that it's okay..... It has a nice tight vibration and I caught a few fish on it back in March on a steep bank. I like the smaller size better but the bigger size has a nice action too. It's definitely worth 3.99....... I think I might pick up a few more for that price.
Let us know how they work for you..... - Jake

I've had pretty decent sucess on the shad x-raps both shallow and deep for pike at my place and a few smallmouth in BC. I use mostly the yellow perch or olive patterns and have had no trouble getting fish to bite.
