Noticed a change on the Rapala USA site tonight Previously they used to differentiate the DT models between the 'regular colors' vs the 'SureSet' colors - now they have simply done away with it, and now all of the 'old' patterns (such as Perch, Silver, Parrot, etc) are now shown with new SureSet hooks. Looks to be the same on all the Fats, Flats,etc...

I noticed at gander mt that most of the new DT colors come with a sure set rear hook and a normal front hook

I think Rapala is screwing the freakin Pooch here with this Sureset crap. Sureset hooks are a joke (to me) I will never use them as long as I live, and I'm sure alot of people feel the same way. Too much negative effect on the action of the lure without enough benefits.
Plus, it probably only costs Rapala like 10 cents more per lure to put sureset hooks on..... yet.... we will pay 2-3 dollars more per lure. I see where Rapala is heading as a company, and I don't like it. Sigh...........
Well, time to go stock up on Normal DT's with computer printed finishes, normal hooks, and especially the ones with the Rapala pamphlet inside. That's my new mission.

The DT-Metal series has been out for awhile now, but it's only on the size DT-20s. Either way, I am glad that Rapala made a decision to go one way or the other. It was getting impossible to tell which color was a 'SS' color and which one wasn't. Since they own VMC, I think it's a smart move in case folks want to switch out their hooks back to the old ones, well I am guess folks might just replace them with VMCs. I do agree on the price part though, actually the SS models seem to run at least .50 to 1.00 or more per lure as opposed to the 'standard' DTs.

3.99 plus tax? Holy crap batman, hook a brother up. Haha
Yeah, I've never seen a sureset DT sell for less than 8 bucks at any store. I have seen normal DT's here and there selling for 4 or 5 bucks depending on the store. I just got the impression that Rapala was making a big deal about these sureset hooks so they can "justify" charging 9 bucks for a lure that used to be 6-7.

I actually kind of like the SS, but I really think it's only necessary on the near treble for those short strikes. The front ones obviously cause some problems, especially on DT-FAT01s getting stuck on the divining lip...

Yeah I ran my Fat 01 through the bathtub with suresets and once I took them off it made a world of difference.
