Got up just before 2am, had some breakfast and headed north to Michmoret (near Netanya).
Tried a few different lures but nothing until about an hour after it started getting light and I had switched to my ultra light and a CD-5 in Silver. Got a take and set the hook. Slowly started bring it in and the guy fishing next to me offered to net it for me as it looked quite big. I agreed (mistake). The guy tried to scoop the fish with the net instead of waiting for me to bring it over the net Never mind. It took off and started to put up a real good fight Managed to get it close a couple of times then after a run he was gone
Here's a photo of what he did to the CD-5:
Damaged CD-5
He crushed the rear treble and spat it out Ever seen the 'teeth' on a Puffer fish? They are more like a Snapping Turtle's:
Nasty Teeth
The above photo is of another one that I managed to catch on the Clackin' Minnow thet Ted sent me for my RapCash -- thanks Ted The SureSet part of the treble is still somewhere inside the grisly part of its mouth somewhere behind those crushers!
Here's a photo of a 50cm one (the bottle is 25cm) that I caught on an FMAG 7 in Dorado on my ultra light gear (it felt like more than 3Kg lifting it out of the water):
And another smaller one caught on a Clackin' Minnow 11:
So all in all a nice day's fishing Makes a change to actually catch something
P.S. When I was fighting them it was strange to see two others swimming near them - as if giving them encouragement......
