I apologize for not having a scanner to upload this so I had to take a picture so it will probably be very hard to read. This is from our local newspaper. The fish was caught in the Menominee river which I fish all the time for muskie. The angler caught it while fishing for Bluegills. He was using a medium action St.Croix rod with 4lb test line.It took him about 1 hour to land it.The fish took a swipe at the bluegill he was reeling in and got hooked. The fish was 57 inches long and was estimated to weigh about 50 pounds. Not a bad day on the water!!!!!

Great fish and kudos to the angler - 1 hour, 4lb line and a 50lb+ monster. BTW, is it legal to use livebait? Nigel

The current Michigan record is 50 pounds 8 ounces. This fish is very close to that but since Muskie season is still closed I don't know if this fish would count.I would think being caught on 4 lb test line has got to be some kind of record. Here is a link to a picture of Michigans record Muskie. Michigans record Muskie

Since Pike are very good eating I would assume a Muskie is good as well.Every muskie I have caught so far has been released so I have never eaten one.
