So I went fishing with my oldest boy this morning. We got up before 3am, had breakfast and headed out to Tel Michmoret to fish from the reefs there. I managed to catch a nice sized Comb grouper: 25cm Comb grouper on a Daiwa SP Minnow You might ask why my jacket sleeves are wet? Well, it's because on the way back to the rock where the camera was I managed to fall into a small hole in the reef. I was holding the fish by the line just above the lure and instinctively put out my hands to break the fall -- guess where my left had went? That's right, straight onto the lure: Fishooked Again This is the second time that I've managed to fishook myself Anyway, extracted the hook with a pair of pliers, then unhooked the fish and released it Comb grouper ready to be released Watch those hooks - they're sharp! That's how I came up with my username LOL...damn that shit hurts! I know - but I think it's taking on a name of it's own -- maybe somebody could make a Wikipedia entry for 'fishooked' - it might even get into the Oxford dictionary.... Actually it didn't hurt too much at the time but it does now. I think the hook must have hit the bone as the base of my little finger is a little swollen and the joint hurts when I bend it. I had to decide whether to get the hook out of my hand or out of the fish's mouth first. It made sense to get it out of my hand first and to deal with the two that were well embedded in the fish's mouth after. Having done it twice now it's getting to be a bit 'old hat' and easier to deal with the issue of removing it - no need to get to a hospital, just a good old pair of pliers - then back to Nigel

Yeah I learned my lesson when a scrappy little, hammer-handle pike rammed a treble into me while he was still thrashing on the other hook. Man did that ever hurt! That sure is a nice looking fish you got there though. Someday, someday.

My cat did that to herself with a DT Thug lure, only in the skin, no bleeding. But I know it can hurt, especialy those vmc hooks

My dog stuck his face in my tackle box once and came out with three rapalas in his face. But before I could even finish yelling 'What the f*** am I going to do with you?', he shook his face and they all fell out. I was relieved as hell I didn't have to pull a bunch of hooks out of a 110lb doberman's face!!
